Thought I would share the story of how my bird and I became reunited with you all! Hope you enjoy: When I moved out on my own at 19,I took my childhood playmate, a feisty little Quaker parrot named "Polly" with me.(My dad bought him at Woolworths for $7.99 when I was 4 yrs old!!)He only lived with me for another 2 yrs and when he was gone I was heartbroken! I knew I had to have another bird or life just wouldn't be the same, so after shopping around I decided on a beautiful Panama Amazon named "Sammy" who's owner could no longer keep him. We bonded, and for the next 3 years we were great buddies--he even bonded with my boyfriend and after we were married the 3 of us settled down, happily together!THEN..came the baby!!Sammy decided that when the baby would cry(she had colic for the first 8 months!)he was going to scream and squawk, too!All this just became too much for one new, sleep-deprived mother to take so I made the decission to give him to my parents with the agreement that I would bring him back when my daughter got abit older(and quieter!)!Well, time passed and my parents got attached to him and I did get to visit him often as they lived close by,so he became "their" bird.As the years passed he became angry towards me and my family(especially my daughter!)and I no longer could hold or pet him.Recently, my dad became ill and with taking care of him, my mom just couldn't care for "Sammy" as before so we made the decission that I would take hime back! So..after 15 long years, I have my birdie back! The first 2 months were very trying on us both! He was used to being handled everyday and wanted me to, but couldn't resist the temptation to bite!Once, he bit my hand so hard I was sure it was broken! I really wanted to "throw in the towel"after that, but thank goodness I didn't! After many a day of sweet-talking, singing to him, offering treats and that wonderful day when he stepped on my hand and did not take a chunk out of it --we are back to being the great friends we used to be so long ago!!I had so missed him sitting on my shoulder all fluffed up and snuggling my face into his feathers--it's so wonderful to have my "big boy" back again!Sadly, he has overbonded to me now and will have no part of my daughter and only lets the hubby scratch his head for abit before he lunges! But maybe one day that too will change, but for now I'm just happy to be reunited! Thanx for readin'!Hope you enjoyed!! LYDIA*

Thank you so much for the story Lydia. I hope you and Sammy have many years together now and I'm sure that one day he will decide that your husband and daughter can be friends with him too.
