Hi,
The abortion shouldn't affect your ability to have children unless you had a very late term, and/or traumatic abortion.
Have you had a physical examination to make sure you're physically okay to have a baby? I'd suggest that first to eliminate that possibility.
Next, it's important to examine your feelings about having had an abortion. I'm been a mental health counselor for more than 30 years and I've seen first hand the guilt, anger and other unresolved feelings women have after abortion. Like any loss, abortion needs to be grieved, but since our society is so polarized about the issue, grieving can be difficult. If you haven't cried, been angry and come through feeling you did the best you could do given the circumstances, consider finding a counselor to help you resolve your grief. A mental health nursing specialist might be your best bet because such a person knows both the physical and emotional elements of what you've been through.
Finally, go to my Bellaonline article on infertility and see if you find some help there. Remember, stress and anxiety are big factors in both periods and conception! You can find the article by clicking on
