Before planning the year ahead I like to take a look back at the one that has just passed. In this article I take you on a visualisation to do just that. Some of the images may be symbolic. Do drop into the forum if you'd like some help with interpretation!

Lauren, thanks for the great exercise. This was a really helpful way to remember many of the things that got kind of buried under the more memorable (or traumatic!) events of the year. I especially appreciated your urging to dig a little deep inside for the not such nice stuff we've each done, but also the encouragement to not dwell there. There is much to be celebrated!
Happy New Year wise friend!

Just an added p.s.
The road when I looked behind me was paved but just 2 lanes. There were green fields on either side and the road was a succession of dips and rises.
At dinner last night I asked my husband to close his eyes and view the road behind him. He said too that his was paved with a nice crisp dividing line painted on it. The road immediately behind him was straight and smooth, but in the distance was a bridge with great sand dunes on either side of it. I was surprised with the detail he provided. Sometimes one needs to really coax him along, but this was clear and easy for him. Thought you would be interested to know what some of us "saw". Be well! T

Thanks Trishh, I write this with my ginger kitten on my lap- one of my big joys this year. Your husband is pretty good at visualising isn't he? Bridges could represent a transition between one phase of life & another- in this case close to the start of the year. Would that make sense for him?

Apologies for those that got multiples of the newsletter The gremlins have been at work, but the webmaster here is onto it.

Thanks for sharing, I enjoyed it too.

Do you think it is appropriate to go through this process with the "path in front" (ie. 2007)?
Do you think it will help to plan the year ahead?

Thanks both!

Yes I think it is a helpful exercise, as long as you take it in a lighthearted way. The future isn't set in stone & you would be seeing pointers on your path not definite events. The next article will take you through the exercise, but it is essentially the same process, just walking forwards & then heading back to the present moment.

hi all! Neither of us could see the road ahead of us... it was part of our visualization too. Mine just wound off, John's was concealed by fog. Neat eh?
Lauren, your kitty note really touched my heart as my cat had three kittens this fall: Georgie Porgie (a ginger male) and Puddin' (a grey and white female) and Pie (a calico female). We hated to see them go, and wished especially that we could have kept Georgie. I have a real soft spot for ginger males- especially the fluffy ones like GP. Glad you have the kitten joy this year too. We were happy that the adopting families were so excited and enchanted with their new babies. Now if we can keep our little tart out of the way of the neighbourhood "boys" until she can be fixed all will be well!
New Year love to you all. T

Wow Trish, cross Atlantic kitten synchronicity! My ginger tom was named Ginger Paws by my son on first sight, shortened to GP- for a second I wondered if I'd referred to his name! He is now Henry the 8th officially as he is my 8th kitty, but he still gets called GP & the Jeepster rather a lot. His naughty mummy is preggers again- my friend really needs to move faster if she's going to keep the little hussy out of trouble!

Hi Lauren,
a kitty update for you... our GP was the furry son of Peepers (your note weirded me out with the Jeepster bit as we used to sing her the jeepers creepers, where'd ya get those peepers? song) Last week on the way to or from a boyfriend's likely... Peepers met her end. We were very sad. Take good care of Ginger Paws. Love to you all. Trish

Oh that is sad Trish! It sounds like she enjoyed a very full & productive life though. I do worry about the cat because we live by a busy road. Little GP isn't allowed out yet, but he is sitting on the window sill excitedly ogling the birds on the bird table. His official name is now Henry (VIII -he's my 8th cat) but we're still calling him GP most of the time!
