Can negativity be forced out by trying to be creative? Suppose I am feeling bad, will trying to paint help?

You can certainly study yourself with your creative expression. That may lead you to discover the root of a negative emotion and you can then continue to heal by gently looking at this and letting go, all through some form of art.

I believe it helps.

I read a book about using your non-dominating hand to draw. I surprise myself that my non-dominating hand (left hand) draws better. When I show my husband the same picture which I use my left & right hand to draw, my husband said that the one that I used my left hand to draw is nicer. What a surprise.

I also use both my hands to "do a dialogue". First, I'll have my right hand write out my thoughts and questions. Then I pass the pen over to my left hand, and write out my thoughts or answers to the question "posed" by my right hand. It's very interesting to read the dialogue after that. I get to understand my emotions better.

I really feel like it does for me. When I'm especially grumpy, if I start researching a new article I find myself getting so chipper <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Maybe being creative releases endorphines <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Wow Miracle, that sounds really cool! I tried to train my left hand to write at one stage but got bored, but I'll have to give your suggestions a go. I've never tried drawing with my left hand, what fun!

It's difficult for me to write with my left hand. And it's because of that, that I have to concentrate more... it brings me to being in the NOW. That also gives me more peace, more calm. My mind is more blank.

I think when I write with my left hand, the concentration that I gave to each letter, is just like a child learning how to write.

I started by writing my name with my left hand over & over again, on a blank sheet of paper. Of course my writing looks big and horrible. I don't focus on how horrible my writing is. I focus on the peacefulness, the concentration that I get.

As my concentration increases and also more calm. I started to 'ask' question with my right hand (whatever that is on my mind). Questions like,
"how do you feel",
"why are you angry",
"how can I help you",
"can we work together" etc...

Then I pass my pen to my left hand. Whatever thoughts that flows, I write. After that my right hand will 'answer', then my left hand... it's a dialogue on paper. <img src="/images/graemlins/easter.gif" alt="" />

This process brings out a lot of negative emotions and pain. Sometimes tears just flow, I don't let the tears stop me, I just kept crying and writing until I'm more at peace. Then I know that I have let go (either part or the entire) of that issue.

To me, it is a good way to let it out in silence.
Anyway, the only person that can help me is myself.
