Hi Mavis or any1 with any answers.

recently i have had 3 baby cockatiels hatch 2 are doing great they have flew the nest now, unfortunatly the youngest was not ready to leave the nest and 1 of my other female cockatiels decided she wanted to lay eggs in the nest the youngest baby was stil in:( she got aggresive to the chick a chased it out of the nest, the baby fell to the floor and i think it has injured its wing! the baby is 6 weeks old today it is still being fed by the mum and dad so thats a good thing, i have put bedding on the bottom of the aviary ans small seed and millet and water to help the baby ween early. i cant touch the baby because i am scared i will hurt it further and it will get stressed and i dont want the parents to abadon it. i have took the next boxes out of my aviary to avoid any more aggrestion. the baby seems fine but it is on the bottom of the aviary anable to fly i feel so sorry for it i dont no wot the best thing to do is? please help asap!!! btw hand feeding is out of the question as i work all day.

I'm so sorry Michael. Yes, its good that the mom & dad are still feeding the little guy - but if he is injured, you really should take him out and take him to an avian veterinian to have him checked out. At 6 weeks of age, you can handfeed him because he doesn't need as constant feeding as younger birds do. You could feed him 3 times a day - before work, after work and before you go to bed & he will be fine with that. Of course, since he is this age and has only been parent fed, he will fight you though. Its possible that the parents will accept him back & continue to handfeed him if you only have him away for an hour or two. If the wing is allowed to heal in bad position this baby will be handicapped for life instead of healing probably and being able to fly. Good luck.
