For those who took Spanish in high school, how much of it do you still remember?

Quite a bit, but then I live in a community/state that is heavily hispanic. The biggest issue isn't remembering what I took (I had 3 years in high school and 3 years in college), it's shifting dialects. I had Castillian Spanish in High School. The Spanish I took in college was flavored by Venezuela, as my first instructor was a native speaker; and by idiomatic southern Tex-Mex (second instructor).

Yes, in Texas you have a very high Latino population (over 34%, I believe)

Texas is a minority-majority state. The Hispanic population is about 36 percent of the total populous.
