I had a great healing from a Spiritual Response Therapist. I'd previously not heard of this therapy. You can read more about my experience here:
Spiritual Response Therapy

Have any of you had this therapy before? What did you think of it?

I had something similar done to me by someone at a psychic fair in Farnham, about eight years ago.

The 'therapist' went through several procedures involving Crystals, pendulums and manipulating my auras (he said there are three tangible layers... there may be more, but these three are the most evident and malleable...) The whole thing took about 30 minutes, and I too, got up feeling so much better.

He asked if I would be willing to give him my name and address, and if I would supply references, if need be. He was a lovely, warm, kind and considerate person, so I was quite happy to do so.

About a week later, I received a letter from him.
He told me he was not an experienced or qualified therapist, he had never done anything like this previously, and as far as he knew, he'd been muttering mumbo-jumbo, and making everything up as he went along.

He had no experience of accessing anything even remotely resembling an aura, and confessed he had purchased all his equipment about a week before the event.
He admitted to swinging the pendulum himself, and didn't have a clue as to how to use crystals, nor whether they had properties or not, or what they were used for at all.

Frankly, he 'confessed' that any benefits I must have felt had all been products of my own mind. The only reason he had done all this was to complete a University thesis on new-Age charlatans.
At the time, I was incensed. I felt mis-use of these items could have done me serious harm, and damaged my energy and had goodness-knows-what detrimental effect.

But then it occurred to me...
They hadn't.
I had felt nothing but good after he had finished.
I had felt as if the entire procedure and experience had brought me nothing but positive results.

So now, after much thought and soul-searching, and having developped a different avenue for myself, I have come to the conclusion that he was right.

For me,it's all in the Mind.

Please understand that I am not attempting to rain on anyone's parade here.
But I have come to learn through my own experience, that the greatest tool and weapon we have, against that ails us, is our own Thought Process. I am merely presenting the other side of the coin.

What a stinker! But you did get the benefit- that wonderful 'placebo effect'. Apparently the placebo effect accounts for an amazing percentage of 'cures' from drug therapy too & even though it is always thrown at complementary therapists like myself I think it is cool. How brilliant really that waving a few things over someone or taking a sugar pill can have such a powerful effect!

However the placebo effect will only work if you expect to feel better. In this case I was highly sceptical as he really didn't appear to be doing anything to me. So to get up feeling wonderful was a surprise!

Before anyone jumps on me as a crystal therapist, can I add that unlike this highly unethical charlatan (who could have been sued) I really do feel 'gunk' in people's energy fields- sometimes it is like treacle & although some of the effect of my healing can be attributed to a positive mindset- which is very valuable as a healing tool- there is a tangible removal of 'toxic waste' going on, amongst other things...

Hi I'm new here but this topic interested me. I'm not so familiar with this particular technique but wanted to share with you the possibility of releasing emotional patterns using prayer and therapeutic grade essential oils. We are created in the image of our creator so we have a blueprint, if you will, of perfection! Stored emotional traumas can block us from access to this perfection so we cannot become the full measure of our possibility. These stored emotions can be released and the new affirmations can be programmed in so to speak. This work can be done with oils and self or with oils and a trained facilitator. As reference see "Feelings Buried Alive Never Die" by Karol K. Truman (see script p 93) and "Releasing Emotional patterns with Essential oils" by Carolyn L. Mein. For therapeutic grade oils see [url=http://simplessence.younglivingworld.com]

Hello Christine & welcome to the forum

I absolutely agree with you & happened to be teaching about using oils in the aura last weekend. I'll seek out the book on oils you recommended. The one I use as my guide is The Fragrant Heavens by Valerie Ann Worwood, which deals with the more spiritual aspects of oils. It also has the most amazing PIP photographs showing the energy patterns of some essential oils.

Honestly, I see all New Age pop up modalities as renewed and re-named simpler and older methods and cosmologies that someone has figured out how to exploit. It's all much more simple than we allow it ot be. It's about you, what's inside you, what you know and if you're listening. In these voices in you, and in your heritage is where the healing truly lives.
Make your own prayers, make things that give you a feeling of comfort and infuse them with your intentions. Make friends that will share with you not charge you for the next fad.

Hello & welcome to the New Age forum Alternativimage

I agree that some modalities ( I originally typed this madologies(!) are exploitative rebranding of old healing techniques. At the same fair last year someone had 'branded' a shamanic healing technique that has been around for thousands of years & given it a flash name & glossy materials. Another stall this year was selling dual coloured bottles & when I said 'they look like Aura Soma' the woman got defensive & said "they are completely different, these have sound vibrations as well" I ask you I've had to rename a crystal healing technique I teach because I'd inadvertantly given it the same name as a 'branded' form of healing (that I'd never heard of) & I could get into trouble with them if I continued to use their name...it all get a bit silly sometimes

However I *know* most healers are not in it to exploit people. Yes often the answer is simple, and was there all the time, but the therapist is often needed to help the person uncover the truth & move things along. That's what I've found in my own work.

Is Past Life Regression similar to what Spiritual Response Therapy does?

Similar in effect, but when I do a regression the person experiences aspects of their past life, so it is more immediate (and often rather dramatic!) I find the whole topic fascinating & love doing this aspect of my therapy, but some people would rather not see what happened & for them Spiritual Response Therapy is a gentler option in that it still seems to release blocks, but you don't go back & look.
