I have made a denim vest and am embellishing with strips of fabric in blue, black, silver and gold. I need to satin stitch the edges but am at a loss to figuring out how much machine embroidery thread I need. For satin stitching, does anyone know how many inches of thread to one inch of stitching? I don't want to buy thread and come up short as I will have to order, being in a small town with no fabric shop other than the quilt shop which I will check out this week.
