Someone sent me a forward: How old? The objective is to guess how old this woman is from the list of things that she remembers that most young people today wouldn't.

With that in mind, what event in your lifetime has had the most impact on you? I'll start.

Neil Armstrong & crew lifted off for the moon on my 16th birthday. Four days later they landed on the moon on what would have been my paternal grandmother's 79th birthday.

I was intent on getting my driving permit that day. I took a bath, washed my hair and put it up on those big rollers. My brother gave me a delicate necklace with a pearl in the pendant. Yep. I got my permit. I watched the pictures that were sent back to Earth and have been awed by space exploration and travel ever since.

Should seniors be considered for the Mars Expedition?

I certainly remember the moon landing. I was 27 years old and just out of school. I enjoy having friends who know where they were when the Kennedy's were shot, MLK was shot and the Challenger blew up, who remember rationing and Victory Gardens. These were defining moments in our younger lives and means that we have enough life experience to handle most everything that comes our way. There are those who would call us old, but we are just experienced in living, something a 30 something could never claim.

I was in high school during the moon landing. I remember my sisters, parents and grandparents sat out in the back yard and looked up at the moon, walking about what it must be like. We were so amazed by all that. Now days you just don't see that kind of amazement about things and every day brings new inventions and discoveries so that's it's almost overwhelming.

My parents are very big on telling stories of the past so we grew up hearing about WWII and the depression, etc. Also, I have a degree in history so I am interested in it. It just seems funny to be considered part of history because I've lived so long.

I was 20 and in college. My friends and I kept looking at the moon in complete wonderment.

My grandmother was born at the end of the 19th century and we would ask her about how things were when she was growing up. It was a kind of living history that was personal but broad-based at the same time. I've always loved to listen to old folks because of where they've been and what they've experienced. I'm not old yet but I'm working on it. I hope I can be half as interesting as my grandma.

Why hadn't I thought to look into senior discounts since DH is 57...much older than my 53. I have proof. I showed a co-worker a photograph of DH with our oldest daughter on her wedding day. The coworker said, "Is that your father?" I said, "No, that's my husband." Bob was visibly embarrassed. "Please don't tell him I asked that. I don't want to offend him." But, of course, you know what I did because I thought that was so hysterically funny. We were 40-ish back then. And DH decided to go ahead and keep me.
