Hello folks! <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
I have become very interested in the art of spinning.
While going through my extensive stash of yarn, I thought how wonderful it would be to try and make my own!

I've also been reading articles on using dog and cat fur to make yarn. Now there is something! <img src="/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" />

I would like to give it a go but do not want to invest alot of money into it right away.
How do you make the roving nad get started?
How do you clean the raw fibers?

Any help please <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Hello Keeron I can't be of a lot of help, because I am so new as well. I would say that someone will be along shortly to help you, but this board seems like a ghost town to me.
There are more active boards out there if you are interested, try this one.

It is quite active and has wonderfully helpful members.

I do know that in order to get the fleece more like roving you must card with some brush like paddles, to poof it up.
I have only had my wheel less than a month and am loving it.

Hmmm - sorry if no one was along to help quite as quickly. If you don't want to invest a lot of money, try shopping ebay for less expensive wheels. However, be careful with that as it is easy to miss details. Also, turning wool into roving or batts generally requires hand carders or a drum carder. Hand carders are less expensive. There is a lot of good information out there on cleaning fibers - check in the articles and links area of the site!!You can also find a number of good books on the subject of spinning by searching ebay and amazon.
