I had a Laprascope done last week and my Dr. said I have endometriosis. He also said it was severe and he could not get all of it. and is recommending doing injections for 6 months that will put me into a menopause state that should help shrink? or degenerate? what is left and then start trying and possibly have a better chance of conceiving. I have not heard of anyone getting injections and wanted to know if anyone out there has gotten the injections and if they work. I am 28 been trying for 2 years am very depressed and emotional. From what I read about the injections it magnifies mood swings and depression. What do you think. My Dr. appt is next week to discuss this option.

your dr is talking about depot lupron injections. it is a very strong drug that can have serious side effects. it will not increase your fertility either. if you still have pain after your laparoscopy, then it would be something to try. but try to conceive on your own now that you've had the surgery. it's possible removing the endometriosis itself will increase your fertility. but if the dr wasn't able to remove endo from your tubes, then perhaps lupron is the thing to try.

it's really up to you. i started lupron about 4 months after my first laparoscopy (i've had 3 of them since 2002). i had my second laparoscopy 3 months into lupron because my pain only worsened. when i had the second lap, the endo had already grown back. lupron didn't do enough for me.

as for getting pregnant, you have a much better chance after having severe endo removed. i have mild endometriosis and have been trying to conceive for 10 years now. all the women i know who have severe endometriosis have conceived within 6 months after their first laparoscopies. so your odds are probably really good. however, that is only if your tubes are open and your reproductive organs are where they need to be (sometimes severe endometriosis can cause adhesions that pull things into areas they don't need to be).

your chances are good right now. so perhaps try on your own a while and if the pain returns, perhaps go on lupron. but do your research first. the side effects were really bad for me, and since i was in more pain than before, my dr had me stop the injections halfway through and have a second laparoscopy. i've since had my third laparoscopy, and the pain is back again. it's really hard to understand how some women feel nothing, and others feel immense pain. it's different for everyone.

good luck to you. i know how hard infertility can be. (((hugs)))
