To start the discussion, just wanted to address something specific about costuming. Height. For short people like myself, long, flowy belly dance skirts just don't do it. I feel like I have to take off so much length just to make it look proper. Have you come across such problem, whether you are short or tall?

I don't have any actual dance skirts yet, so I've not dealt with that one. I have to hem just about anything else in my life, so it won't surprise me to have to shorten a dance skirt. Most likely, I'm going to get a pattern and make my own, so I can adjust it right from the start.

I think I want to venture out and try dancing with a shorter skirt. Dina, from Egypt, dances with skirts above the knee.

Also, I think I want to try a new look with the belly dance pants. Those would go great with all the new fusion music.
