Most of us have a specific vitamin or mineral that we really watch out for, for whatever reason. For the longest time mine was Vitamin E, for skin and general health. Do you have a specific vitamin you pay attention to?

I take Magnesium and Calcium for nerves and bone treatment. My Chiropractor, Pete, told me that this would help the blood flow through my system to get the nerves working normally again, and strengthin my bones.

I did find those Centrum chewables by the way and they are *great*. Now I take one of those and a vitamin C chewable addition every day

Calcium is definitely key! I do have calcium chewables, I think those are chocolate. Or are they caramel? In any case they're chewy. I don't take those daily though, I really should.

Zinc. My husband and I start taking zinc tablets in the fall and we almost never get colds. When we do, they are considerably milder than they were in the person (usually a work associate; one of my pet peeves is folks who go to work sick thus giving it to everyone else) who gave it to us.

happygirl - what brand are they? I eat the Centrum and I actually like the taste. There are many vitamins I hate the taste of and then I never eat them, so definitely taste is an important aspect of them.

Djcnor - how much zinc do you take? I think I get 100% in my daily but I imagine you're taking more than that?

I have done extensive research into what the best supplements are out there. If anyone is open to evaluating what is best for their body, please let me know, would love to share what I found. Would it make sense to believe that not all nutritonal supplements are created equal, in terms of quality, safety, and manufacturing? I certainly trust my health to careful science. Love to get share more info if interested. Cheers! Becky. My email: becky.lawson@orcon.net.nz

Herbalife Formula 3 Multivitamins for me...
You take 3 smaller tabs a day instead of one big multivitamin that your body can't absorb properly.
You feel on top of your game all day long too.. I don't feel flat in the afternoons anymore.

I used to take centrum though

hi i am new to this thread. my doc advised me to take an iron supplement. i am 35 yr old woman and have always had a low iron count but not by much. i am a 10.5 and the norm starts at 11. i also need a multi-vitamin. i went to GNC and simply became overwhelmed. can any woman recommend a muti vit and an iron supplement? im so nervous about the whole thing because there are SO many products out there that i cant choose. i am caffeine sensitive so i cant take anything that will make me get all jittery. i had taken iron in the past only to find that it makes my stomache hurt. i dont know where to start...please help :-)

I switched over to "Ultimate Woman" by Vitamin Shoppe and it has iron in it, just the right amount that a woman needs. I never felt so great in my life. It is the best multivitamin I've ever taken. You take 2 pills every morning. I even got the "Ultimate Man" for my husband, which does not have iron in it. It is a top notch product and I would never go back to what I was taking before, which was a standard multivitamin with the minimum daily dose of vitamins and minerals. Check it out. This is a high energy vitamin for active women. P.S. I have a sensitive stomach and this vitamin never caused me any problems. I get jittery too to excessive stimulants, which this doesn't have. It is a specific brand of the Vitamin Shoppe Store I believe.

A favorite? I'm not sure that I have a favorite; I don't like the feeling that I need supplements but I know that there is evidence that we don't get enough of some nutrients so I make sure that my children get a good multi-vitamin and regular doses of flavored cod liver oil.

As for myself I felt the most improvement in energy and wellbeing from taking CoQ10. I could see a difference in my endurance with a few weeks. I started taking it after a person I knew had open heart surgery and said that her physician said tht she should take it. I haven't always eaten properly and paid attention to heart health so I got some and am still very pleased with the results. I'm not sure what it's supposed to do, but I eat well enough in the last several years to cover most of the other nutritional bases so it's one of the few supplements that I take.
