Thank you, Meg, for writing that article about HSDLA! My husband and I want to started homeschooling our kids next year and right now, we're doing our research and everything we've read so far makes it sound imperitive to join HSDLA. They give all these scary scenarios about what can happen to you if you don't have them on your side, but you're right, as long as you know and follow your state's laws there's nothing really to worry about. Plus, I don't like religious zelouts pushing their beliefs on me.

Michele

We journey now into the unknown. Does anyone have a map?

You are welcome Michele <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
The HSLDA has it's place, but not in my family.

I just started to homeschool today but here is my 2 cents worth. The HSLDA is nice to have if you need it but I agree with Meg, I don't have a need for it. I plan on doing this the correct way, I want my son educated.

There are places to get help if you need it that have nothing to do with the HSLDA.

I recommend the Pacific Justice Institute (www.pacificjustice.org) they represent homeschooling families free of charge and take on cases and people the HSLDA wouldn't imagine taking.

before anyone joins the HSLDA I recommend looking here:

most of all, know your laws better than anyone else and FOLLOW them, even if they aren't ideal!
