I have been trying to make the sleeves on a Reynolds "Saucy" pattern for a tee and I don't get it! The shirt is in Condo Stitch.

After you make the rib stitch band you change to larger needles and work on 53 stitches:

Work in Condo Stitch inc 1 st each side as foll: [every other row once, every 4th row once] 4 times then every other row 1 time. Work on 71 sts until piece measures 6-1/2 inches from beginning, bind off.

I thought this meant every other row but that makes it too long. The Condo St is 6 rows. Help!

Thank you,
Andy

Let's call your first row of Condo stitch "row 1" for ease of explanation.

Work row 1 with no increases.
Row 2 is an increase row.
Work rows 3, 4, 5 with no increases.
Row 6 is an increase row.

Repeat this entire sequence four times, so you would increase on rows 8 and 12, rows 14 and 18, rows 20 and 24.

Then work row 25 (plain) and increase on row 26.

You should then be at 71 stitches.

HTH, and please ask if you need further clarification,

D.

Hi, I would have posted exactly the same as above except that once the increasing has been done you don't do any more increasing, you work straight until the work reaches the length you need with no shaping, then bind off.

My other comment would be to ask whether you've made a tension piece to ensure that your tension matches that given in the pattern?

Tatting_and_Knitting, I'm not sure what you're saying in your "except" part. I took the knitter to the required 71 stitches and expected he or she would know to continue from there until the piece was the proper length.

Thank you so much for your help reading my pattern! I just couldn't get my brain around the wording. My gage and tension are ok and I can finally finish this shirt!

Thanks again,
Andy
