I was just curious what some of you think about this website.

Some of the online classes seem to be truly informative, and then some just seem a little asinine... Especially when it comes to the short test they give you after lessons. Some of the questions are either really silly or just really, really nitpicky...

What do you think??

I personally will only pay for education from an accredited institution that can explain who the faculty are and what their credentials are as well.

I know a few people who took classes through them. They say that you can get some of the basics but none of the experience. In Wicca the experience is so important.

I also know a "3rd Degree" through their program who couldnt name 3 Gods of Fire so *shrug*

I would say if there is a class or two you find interesting to SUPPLEMENT your learning thats probably ok (if it isnt too expensive like maybe covers the cost of printing and webhosting etc - but then I personally believe that we shouldnt take money for teaching the Craft)

They have a lot of classes that are free. That's what I signed up for. I bought enough books to teach me whatever it is that they are actually selling...

That is kind of what I am getting out of it. The basics. But some of it seems almost a little too basic...

Makes me wonder what they teach at their brick and mortar schools in IA and NY...

I'm a member of Witch school, no complaints but I have to admit I haven't been as active in the course as I a lifetime member should be! DOH!

The 1st degree course is decent & free.

I've done a few of their online (free) courses as well. *shrugs* I dont think you can even learn the basics from this site, but I found their tradition interesting to learn about. Prior to visiting their site, I had never heard of "Corellian" Wicca.

Anyway - I dont have anything negative to say about witchschool.com - but on the other hand, I dont have anything particularly glowing to report either.

Good luck with your studies! And for what it's worth, I think you can learn more about the basics of Wicca from reading Fiona's thoughtful articles and participating in THIS forum, than you ever will from their classes.

I joined Magicka School (www.magickaschool.com) for free. They teach you beginner Wicca & Tarot, and if you decide to be a lifetime member (for about 35 us dollars) - you can continue on to advanced wicca, tarot, and i think they just started a course in shamanism... They are based out of the UK and one of the better websites I have seen. Personally, i would not pay any more than even that much for a course, unless you have fully investigated it. The best places will even tell you that you dont have to pay for an education in Wicca, just keep looking and usually the right place will fall into your lap...

For the most part this is true. Though you may be asked to pay a small fee to cover supplies and space if its an in person class. For online classes a nominal fee might be asked to offset time for web work or supplies/copies if they are included. Also, if you are attending a workshop or class with a teacher from out of town there will probably be a fee to offset that teachers time and travel expenses.
