I had the opportunity to spend the night in one of the places on the haunted Toronto tour- the old Massey house now a Keg restaurant. I was friends with the host of an overnight talk show and she was doing a story about hauntings around Halloween one year. We got permission to stay at the restaurant by ourselves overnight as well as have a behind the scenes tour of the whole house. Most tours will tell the visitors to look up to the upper balcony in the rotunda as many have seen a maid who hung herself from the ballustrade. For me though, there were two very scarey places in that house that stay with me even today 10 years later. The top floor which had been a nursery was very busy and populated although entirely empty to the eye. The basement wine cellar was so full of energy it was almost swimming. I would not have agreed to spend a night in either place - well, I certainly would not have been able to sleep! We bunked down for the night in what is now the taps room and didn't have much paranormal activity to report in the morning - except as we went to clean up in the morning in the washroom, we totally terrified an early morning cook who didn't remember the Keg had overnight guests that night! <img src="/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" /> He was from Yugoslavia and admitted that he was always a little nervous working in a haunted house! That's my first hand encounter with haunted Canada!
