Some cultures practiced the stretching or enlargement of body piercings. Done slowly, this can be a different way of exploring piercing.

Hi there, l did not know what size my rings were, but wanted to go larger, l went on friday and asked for the next size up l said it was a 14 gauge but they refered to it as a 1.6, and they said that l would be better going to a 2.0 which l did, disapointed as wanted to go an 8 or 6 gauge but they said that l will have to go slowly as nipples dont respond to going to large to quick, hopefully will go to a 2.4 in a couple of months, have had no pain or trouble from them being made larger any advice you could give thanks ron.

Your piercers were talking in millimeters instead of wire gauge sizes, but it comes out to the same thing.

14 g = 1.6mm
12 g = 2.0mm

If you'd gone up to a 8 or 6 gauge, you'd have very freshly *torn* piercings, worse than the day you first got pierced.

Thanks for that, do you reckon l will manage to get to either a 6 or 8 gauge, as the women who streched both of them friday said that nipples are hard to go to big, she thought a 10 ( 2.4) would be the largest any thoughts.

I can't really predict what might or might not work for you. Part of it will depend on if you're male or female.

Having just looked at your profile and looking at your screenname, I'm gonna guess that you're male.

Since men have much smaller nipple development, chances are you won't be able to really go that high in size of rings without the nipple tissue becoming too thin and the risk of a tear just isn't worth it. Plastic surgery is even more expensive than body jewelry....

The few guys I've known who've really stretched nipple piercings had them done deeper to start with. You might check out Fakir Musafar's site, www.bodyplay.com, as he's got very large nipple piercings. I don't know if he talks about them on there.

Also, he writes a column for BMEzine, so you might try writing to him there and see what he says.
