The main problem with this series is that Robert Jordan delivered it to the publishers as a finished item. It was originally five books.
When it became popular, the publishers insisted on it being expanded, and that's where the inconsistencies come in (eg: Perrin's un-death). I found it ws very dissappointing with all the padding and that it took away a lot from the actual story.
