The moment I saw
Lordi on stage, I knew they were going to win EuroVision! My hubby thought otherwise - too different, how could a pseudo-metal band in monster-masks hope to stand up against leggy blonde princesses and wash-board-stomached hunks?
But I think the pop world is starting to get tired of what I call "cereal-box-pop" and what ABC's music quiz show, Spicks and Specks, calls "Just add water" bands.
I knew there would be several people in each country who'd say, "what the hell, I'm voting for them - they're different, they made me chuckle, and no one else will vote for them..." And there were enough of those people.
