I decided to use the design I had done for this year's Mind, Body, Spirit show in Mid-Wales (3rd & 4th June if anyone is local enough)as my Raven was looking a bit wintry. This is a faerie landscape...

It's by Mike Shiels who is an all round fab guy when it comes to design & websites. You can see more of his work here:

You like trees; are you a bit of a druid?

I've been known to hug trees actually, and can feel their energy intensely, particularly the old ones.

Lauren, my PM to you about your new avatar got eaten I think but here's my enthusiastic applause just in case. It is lovely. I described it as mysterious and promising all at once, and now knowing it is faerie in focus, that makes perfect sense. It is also pretty perfectly you in this new season!

It is beautiful Lauren. I love faeriescapes. I love all trees, and do hug them. Especially the big old oaks. I have two oak tree stories; one rocked me to the core and I still have not gotten over it. I may have posted it somewhere around here already. I will investigate.

Thanks everyone! And yes I do love trees. I even spent a weekend on a course called 'Tree Spirit Healing'and use tree essences in my healing practice. It just so happens my designer is also a big tree enthusiast & has done amazing paintings of twisty roots, so we are pretty in tune when it comes to images.

It's beautiful Lauren. My husband thinks I'm cuckoo when I stroke trees and say hello to them.

That (your avatar) is absolutely exquisite. After this post, I am headed over to the website to have a look at his art.

Firstly though, I must chime in and enthuse my own love of treesas well; in fact, I have an actual book of trees in which I've pasted tree lore, pictures and tales from friends whom I've solicited for stories about trees.

Interestingly enough? Most people have at least one story about a tree.

Your avatar is totally beautiful. I occasionally paint watercolours and I love using purples and pinks. I could look at and meditate on that image for a very long and see something different everytime I go back to it.

It's true there are such beautiful avatars on this page.

Trees are gorgeous. It's hard to say which is better; sitting under a tree on a sunny day with a cloudless sky; or walking around in the early morning mist, when all the trees are just outlines; or,crunching on the autumn leaves whilst walking thru the trees on a country walk. I guess they all have their place.

BTW,Can anyone give me a tip please, on how one can insert a photo as an avatar? I tried using the url obtained from freeimagehosting.net, and it didn't work. It's lovely to be able to communicate with everyone thru one's avatar.

Thx a bunch!

Thanks Everyone! Mike doesn't have any free avatars on his site at present. You can see more of his digital art on my Touchstones Therapies site & on my friend's www.triple-moon.co.uk This one was a poster I commissioned to advertise a fair I was running. I'll drop a word in his shell-like & see if he fancies having a small selection of avatars available- you never know!

Btw I didn't do the techie stuff I asked nicely if he'd do it for me! Anyone like to talk Voiceovergal though it?

It took me ForEver to figure out how to get an avatar. I tried Photobucket with no luck. ImageShack was much easier. You get a free account, browse your pictures (if you are using a picture on your computer. Mine are in "My Pictures"). Click on your picture, then copy and paste the URL. First I signed into Bella, then got on my home page, clicked the part where you edit your info, and got on the page where you paste the URL; then I went to ImageShack and picked my picture and copied and then logged out of ImageShack. Then I pasted the URL into the avatar URL spot, and it worked. The only thing was, I had to make sure my picture was small enough to be accepted, or you get "Improper picture type", or something like that. ImageShack gives you the option to make it smaller; I clicked on the avatar button. It is kind of small and now I am working on figuring out how to make it bigger. If you do not have personal photos to choose from, Avatars4Free had some cute ones, you could try that. I may have gone around my elbow to get to my thumb, but I finally got an avatar. If I have just confused you, PM me and I will give exact step by step directions. I did not know how to copy and paste, and learned everything by trial and error which is why it took me months!

Hi Firefly and all!

Thanks for your kind advice. In the meantime, I learned about Photobucket from another kind member and it seems to be working! The pic of the kitty cat there, is one I took in Japan. It the good luck kitty for prosperity and good relationships.

I wish that for all of you guys! Thx so much!

Yes Familychoice he is a bit of a trippy hippy & a very talented guy. No facial hair or interesting hats that I'm aware of so I'm not sure you'd get on together.

Your avatar is beautiful. It reminds me of a particular tree at Avebury - is that a coincidence or intentional?

Talking of avatars...
I'd like to change mine, but I don't know how to find the URL of my chosen image, which is in a file in 'my documents' folder....
And if anyone wants to talk me through this, you'll have to do it step - by - step...you are in communication with a computer-doofus and a technical Fudgewit....!

Lauren,

I love the new avatar. My roomie is a tree hugging and talking "freak". She got so pieved when I went to put a nail into a tree to put up a hanger for a bird house. I learned my lesson many a year ago. ;0)
