Here is an email I received with a note responding to my washer/dryer article. I thought it would kick off a good discussion about coming up with ways to conserve water in the home. Thanks Jess!

Hello, nice to hear from Living Simply. We recently moved and inherited a whirlpool which is French and takes less space and uses less water. We also have an old fashioned hanging clothesline, the kind with wooden strips and iron and a cord for bringing it down, and up too of course. And it works! clothes take a bit longer to dry but ...
all the best,
Jess

In Australia we have all had to learn how to conserve water as we have a very arid continent.

In our showers and all taps we have had a restrictor put on them so the water does not come out as fast. After doing the washing I empty the water into buckets to water the garden. We have to or the garden will die as we are not allowed to use our hoses at all here in Queensland.

I kinda wish we had those restrictions too. we waste so much water here. I know I feel very happy inside when I find ways to reuse my own water. I actually keep a bucket under my sink to dump clean but used water into, for plant water needs.

I just finished a water conservation article on my site. If I could figure out how to make a link, I would do so, but if you click on watergardens.bellaonline.com below my name, you can get there.

it's an important topic. fresh water is going to be increasingly hard to find. has anyone seen An Inconvenient Truth? it was really quite good for a movie of a slideshow. Gore is more cool than I would have guessed.
