Are you happy with the username that you have on this forum? I'm a bit fed up with mine...I've no idea why I chose familychoice, I think I must have been feeling a bit dizzy at the time. What do you think of your username and what would you....*

familychoice, you always amuse me!

I haven't yet decided whether you are totally sane yet or not...

I chose Bella_Harmony because I moderate both the Asthma & Classical music sites, and this seemed a good way to show I was an editor and bring in my sites, as does my avatar (which took me forever to create!)

If you are not happy with your name, you can change it. Just go into your settings on "MyHome" at the top of the page and there is a place where you can change it. The only limitation I believe is that it can't be over 16 characters. So if you've thought of a name that fits you better, go for it!

You're so funny, familychoice--who knows what we're thinking when we do stuff sometimes? Those are the moments that make me scratch my head--I mean, I think I'm "there" for/in the moment, but suddenly there's something I obviously wrote or said, and I'm wondering where did that silly thing come from? Someone shoved me out of the way and wrote or said it

But it's your picture that should be the clue--maybe change your name to Snidely

I'll tell you how I got my username, I think it is really cool! A few years ago, (the year I joined Bella) a mama Mallard started coming into my yard with her boyfriend, looking through all my flowerbeds and bulbs, etc. A few weeks later, I was out weeding around my rose bush and I hear this weird noise about 6 - 8 inches away from my hand, kinda like a hissing sound. I don't care much for snakes so I immediately pulled back and then noticed SHE was nesting underneath, hidden by the bulbs.

Well, I wanted to find out as much as I could learn about how long it took for eggs to hatch, then what they did, what they ate, etc. By the time I started to interact with the mama, the "babies" were born and she whisked them off the next day to the water (my pool cover for a few days). I could call her by "quacking" and as the babies got bigger and started flying, they flew in groups over the house, and I could "quack" at them and they would fly in for a landing and get some corn. It was really fun.

So, I thought that the username "babyquacker" was appropriate, and kinda cute for the ducks! My friends and neighbors think it's a hoot that I can call in different generations of ducks from that original family that nested in my flower bed. By the way, one of the group manages to nest around here every year!

Hey, Trish, that reminds me that we have had a green heron nesting in our back yard for the past two years--what kind of cool username could I get out of green heron? Any ideas?

I'm really new here, so I haven't had time to rethink my choices yet. One of my friend's little girls heard DH call me baby. Her mom insists on the courtesy of "Miss" or Mrs. and the next time she tried to get my attention she called me Miss (MS) Baby. It happened on the day I registered here so...I'm msbaby

Ahoy! I didn't realise I could change it...well bless my beard! Any (polite) suggestions greatfully received. I like the heron thingy, and I also want to get the word 'trousers' in there too, but herontrousers doesn't really work. Or greentrousers, trouserheron, familyheron*

*forget this

I will be sad if you change your username. Why? Between the beard, and your humor, (maybe we're related) one might get the impression you are "out there" , in a good way. I am not saying I think that. But then one's eyes focus on your username, which may send the message that you have a family which you care deeply about, so much you are proclaiming this to the whole world. At this point one probably gets a warm fuzzy feeling for you and your beard, and it is all good. Or, maybe it is moi that is out there. On the other hand, heronthingy might be a good one. The blue herons live by me and I named them Harry and Harriet.

Okay, as soon as I pick myself back up off the floor, where I fell down laughing...

Heronthingy is hilarious. But I agree with firefly--your current name and pic are perfect.

Harry and Harriet are hilarious, too.

But 19 cute cats got me first, and then Msbaby--you know, years ago (and boy am I dating myself here) there was a comedian named Brother Dave (maybe Gardner or Garner?) who did a routine about a motorcycle driver named Chuck and his girlfriend Baby. While they're riding, Baby gets cold, so Chuck stops and takes his leather jacket off and puts it on her. But she's still cold, so Chuck stops again and turns the jacket around, so the zipper is up Baby's back. Then they come around a steep corner and are run off the road by a big truck, and the motorcycle hits a tree. And a little Southern kid who saw the whole thing tells the police, when they interview him: "Mr. Chuck, he was killed outright. But Ms. Baby, she was all right until they turned her head around."

Oh, forgive me, but you can see why I love the name Msbaby! Weird how we associate things, isn't it.

Well, as an editor here, I just used my name and my two topics to make my user name. I liked the older forum software as it let you use more characters, so I used to have an "and" between bodyart and pagan, but really, this version is fine.

I just think it's great to meet a "real" MsBaby

Meanwhile, I Googled Brother Dave and found out some stuff:

His last name IS Gardner.

He died in 1983 of a heart attack, but there's a new guy going around doing a "retro" show of Dave's work.

Brother Dave's albums are still for sale and some are now on CD.

And it's very nice to "meet" all of you! My son's a custom bike painter and of course belongs to a riding club so I couldn't WAIT to tell him the joke! He thought it was funny except for part about the truck and the tree. Extremely understandable!

Thank you for your compliments Barbara.

"It's NOT a beard? If I'm using the wrong term, I apologize again!"

You don't need to apologise. Most people would call it a beard, but I prefer to think of it as a work of art.

I don't think heronthingys beard is actually real though*...I can't be sure, but I think if you gave it a good tug it'd come off in your hands.

*no offence

Ah, yes, "work of art" definitely fits--it certainly is unique and artfully done

Not real? All art is "real." Isn't it?

I have to say, though, that in looking at *your* work of art and heronthingy's (the larger picture), yours looks slightly more complex in its arrangement.

You're British? I can spot that spelling anywhere, or you're like my daughter (who went to school in England for a year) and prefer that spelling (offence).

Thank you!

"Not real? All art is "real." Isn't it?"

Heronthingy (no offense, love your work) is sporting a false beard, whereas my 'real' beard is perfectly tuggable.

"yours looks slightly more complex in its arrangement"

It takes me hours every morning to look this fantastic.

Hello. My user name is of course just my name. Booooorrrring! but I thought it was best as an editor and knowing I would be in the forums alot. Hair and Christianliving were just too many letters.

My avatar is a picture of where I walk every morning and evening when I'm on vacation. We go to the same place in Florida on every vacation.

I may change it and put my face in there again. I like Barbara's and Rae's. I like to see who I'm talking to. (so if you are reading this and there is no vacation picture, you will know why )

familychoice, you must not change your user name. Whenever I see it in the forum index, I go there to read your posts and get a chuckle! Although I kind of life herontrousers

Hey, Lynne! Well, I love your beach picture, but I'd also love to see your pretty face, so.... As for usernames, don't you have a favorite or two you use elsewhere? One of mine is bisque--for my former initials (bsk)--although everyone always assumes it's for the soup or the ceramics. :P

Mr. Familychoice, if I had the chance to meet you in person, I would be like one of those kids who tugs on Santa's beard--I probably couldn't keep myself from taking at least a tiny tug on your work of art.

On the other hand, I might be intimidated by its amazingness and stare in admiration. Let's hope!

[color:"blue"]WHAT! where did the poll answers go?!!! I also lost a post!

This thread is hilarious! Familychoice [color:"red"] DON'T change your name! I, too, love to read your posts. Where would I go what would I do if you changed your name? At least have a press conference so we will have all the details!

As for my username... I am part Cherokee and my name is Lynn. I use this at a couple of other forums too. The avatar just caught my eye and fancy when I saw it.

Also, 13 is my lucky number (I know, I know, it's weird, but I once had an experience at a horse race with lucky number 7, and it wasn't so lucky, so I went to the exact opposite..gotta love it!)

Okay, this is getting weird--13 is MY lucky number, too, but because I was born on the 13th

Wow, this is so cool--I thought I was the only one who liked the 13th, including Fridays that fall on that date. Something fantastic always happens to me on any Friday the 13th.

Freebubbles, I love your bs story. I have struggled my whole life with having the initials BS (single AND married!!). Wish I'd had you back when it all started--you could have given me some clever way of dealing with it

Yes, deanna, all lovers of the number 13 are welcome! This is not to say lovers of other numbers aren't equally welcome, of course. But 13 has always gotten such a bad rap, and I've always been excited when the 13th of the month rolls around, so it's wonderful to find others who feel that same way

Freebubbles, you have outdone yourself! I'm jotting all those down and now my mind is playing with possibilities. However, "bit someone" struck home because on a couple of occasions as a child, when my older and BIGGER brother was bullying me and I couldn't hit back (he had my arms pinned), I, um, well, you get the picture, and I got in big trouble for biting, but he did let loose of me (and ran screaming to Mom to show her the bite on his arm), so.... I just hope the cosmic forces have forgiven me.

Welcome, Toetapping. I'm happy to hear linedancing is still popular. Would the "chicken dance" be considered a "line dance"?

Freebubbles, you're so quick with the clever replies, and those are indeed suitable.

Any June 13th birthdayers out there? Have a happy one!

Family Choice, don't mind if you change your name but don't shave off the whiskers.

Toetapping because I love dancing. Not very original.

My name originally started out in my life as Dark Little Angel. Some of you know why. I've now changed it to better represent me. I love my name now!

I picked imagination and since it is one of my favorite word I am happy with my choice.
