In an earlier article we learned that the sun doesnt always rise in the east, it rises in an easterly direction. Now we will explore our heavens a little farther.

This is a fun quiz to get you thinking about things universal. Some of the images will be easy to identify, some will be more difficult. All the images in the quiz are compliments of astrophotographer Noel Carboni of south Florida. His hope is that by viewing the images you will become more interested in the stars and astronomy.

The link (or copy and paste) to the quiz is:

Have fun and see what you know about what is in the night sky.

Woohoo! I got 8 out of 10, and considering how logn it has been since I've studied astronomy - I was quite surprised!

I would be quite lost in the woods should it ever come to finding my way out by the start, however. Luckily I have a fairly defined sense of direction in my head (used to really tick off my ex-husband who was a helicopter pilot, when he would get us lost, but I could always get us turned aroudnthe right way)

That was a fun quiz. And the photos are great. We hold stargazes for scout troops, and help them earn certain badges. I hope more people become interested in astronomy, particularly the stargazing. Then, perhaps something will be done about the ever-encroaching light pollution problem.

Glad you liked the quiz. Next week we will have a contest with some tougher pictures. Hope you give it a try.
