The best advice I have for you is to communicate, and to completely engross yourself in the language -- read [or just look at] spanish magazines, visit websites in spanish, watch spanish television, speak to anyone you can in spanish, listen to spanish music, etc. You will never, ever learn the language if you do not make an effort to understand and appreciate it. I am a spanish teacher, and the best luck I have with my students, and what helped me the most, was to truly value the media.
My favorite, and my students for that matter, activity is to listen to spanish music, and follow along with the lyrics, then try to figure out what the song is about. look up important words, and go from there. Or, buy a Cosmo, People, etc. magazine in Spanish, and one in English. Look for matching articles -- read the spanish version first, take what you can, then read the English. Same with books. Let me suggest La casa en Mango Street/House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros -- super easy read, and a wonderful book! Hope this helps, I would be happy to give you some additional resources if you would like!
