I went to a couple of my favorite websites that have reliable, free patterns, but struck out looking for afghans. Both do have books and/or patterns, but you'll have to buy them and hope that they're what you want.

Knit Picks generally has books on sale, and their yarn is very well priced: www.knitpicks.com

Elann has TONS of books and more yarn than you could try in a lifetime. They had several afghan books: www.elann.com

Another option for afghan patterns is Michaels or Hobby Lobby. I remember getting a Leisure Arts book at one or the other some years ago that used two strands of yarns together--very cozy and very fast!

Hope this helps,
Becky

Hi there -

You may want to Google "free knitting pattern throw OR afghan." I found a number of throws this way when I was
looking for an easy baby blanket. YOu could also do a
baby blanket, just make it bigger -- there's a pretty
one you knit on the diagonal -- the original size is 36"
x 36", but you could figure out gauge and make it bigger.

It has a pretty lace-style border done by yarn-overs --
it's not hard but it looks good!

I'll see if I can find the website for the pattern for you...

What kind of yarn do you want to knit with--wool, cotton, acrylic? And what weight?

Regarding the "celadon" part -- other
greens that might be close to a celadon
color could be called "celery" or "jade"
or even possibly a light sage...

Happy hunting!
