Hi All - my daughter & I are planning a 2 week European vacation for her graduation present. In trying to get the lowest possible fare, I now realize we will be arriving in Paris after 9pm (if on time) I've already booked a hotel in the city, but after trying to arrange airport shuttle, realize it costs quite a bit more @ that time of night. Is public transportation an option w/ luggage, etc, or would it be wiser to cancel the 1st night & book an airport hotel room? We're not seasoned European travelers - her 1st time & I haven't been since the 70's! [color:"blue"] [/color]

Well, public transportation is doable with luggage, if not a bit cumbersome. Since you're getting there so late anyway, it might be best to get a hotel near the airport and then go into Paris the following morning. It's just easier to ride public transporation without luggage, since you don't want to advertise to potential pickpockets that you're a tourist.

Best bet is to pretend you're not an American and simply travel with one (yes, one) carryon and no more. Your life will be simpler, and you'll be much happier and freer!
