Everyday, more children and teenagers are committing
murder, robbery and other felony crimes.
They are receiving harsher penalties, than the adults.

Many are given Life Sentences without the possibility of parole.

Oftentimes, these kids are being coerced.
Without the benefit of counsel they give up their Miranda Rights.
How would a 13 year old know any better?

Tyler Edmonds, was a 13 year old, who found himself in this very situation.

A worldwide volunteer based and non-profit organization, KidsInCourt,
is helping to educate parents and protect these children's rights.

Thanks Pink.

I can thank Cody Posey, for bringing this to my attention.
There are thousands of children/teens being treated unfairly.
The same way they bulldoze adults is the same way they will bumrush a child.

Unfortunately, many parents don't understand their children's rights.
I don't agree with putting underaged children/teenagers in adult facilities.

Adults who are incarcerated can help their attorneys and themselves.
They have access to law books.
Teens and children, aren't privy to this.
We have to be their Voice.

Re: Teens Sentenced As Adults
It seems that more teenagers are committing more violent crimes and they feel that they should not be given harsher sentence(s). All told, if they can commit heinous crimes, they can do the maximum time, and this includes the death penalty. When the U. S. Supreme Court said lasy year htah children under 17 could not be given the death penalty, they in essence gave juveniles a "right to kill" without any reprecussions. Also juvenile court proceedings need to be open to the public. God only knows that a murderer might be living next to you. Why "sweep" something "under the rug" just to maintain a vow to secrecy. Murder is no secret; the victim no longer has a voice. Judy Perkins, Jeffersontown, KY. 40299

Hello Judy Perkins,

Welcome to the forum, so glad you stopped in.

You are absolutely correct when you said,
"God only knows a murderer might be living next to me."

And, across the street is probably a sexual predator.
Then, down the street and around the corner is probably
a child abuser. There are individuals, like this everywhere.

I am certainly glad, that the Supreme Court outlawed
the death penalty for children in the state of Utah.
To sentence a child to the death is not only cruel,
but senseless and pointless.

I stand firmly on my belief, that a child/teenager
should not be put into an Adult Facility nor a Super Maximum prison.
This doesn't mean that these minor aged children, should not be held
accountable and responsibile for their actions.

Those are 2 separate issues, in my viewpoint
and my opinion only.

KidsInCourt, is not an organization which decides to help these children
based on their "guilt or innocence."
Their objective is to ensure, that these children receive a fair trial.

These types of agencies, organizations, etc. are afforded to adults who have committed crimes.
No reason why, there should not be the same legal assistance and non-profit organizations, helping children who have committed the same.

Once again, Welcome To The Forum.
