I just posted an article about Alfred Hitchcock's Rear Window. My husband and I really enjoyed it. I have hit my MIL's DVD case and plan to watch a lot more. So what is your favorite Alfred Hitchcock movie? Rear Window Article

My favorite is probably "Notorious", but a close second is "Rear Window". When a restored version of "Rear Window" was released a few years ago, I made sure to see it in a Cincinnati area theater -- and once again learned how different it is to watch movies in a theater instead of on TV. The scene where the villain (played by Raymond Burr) turns and stares into the camera after realizing James Stewart was watching him across the courtyard was GREAT. Someone who'd never seen the film before gasped loudly in the theater -- something you'd never hear at home, seeing it for the 10th or 15th time!

Marnie is one of my favorites (consequently, any movie of Hitchcock's with James Stewart I love and Tippi Hedren is wonderful as well). My husbands fav is Lifeboat.

I watched Vertigo last night. It was weird. It was not that I didn't like it, but I just didn't understand what was going on until the end. For me that good because I didn't figure it out.

His version of The Exorcist was pretty scary, but I wasn't scared. Really. Of course his greatest success came in 1962 with his epic blockbuster Lawrence of Arabia. He followed that up with a series of thrillers about Raymond Burr and a piece of hessian. They were met with a lukewarm critical response which is a shame because I thought of them as classics and great personal friends.

My dad said the same thing this last weekend. All he watches is Walker Texas Ranger and Family Feud. I guess everyone has their own taste.

"Rope" is fascinating!
Anyone who finds Hitchcock "boring" either has it on a TV set as background noise or was brought up on shows where everything is completely spelled out for the viewer; hence, the senses are completely dulled.
Hitchcock may be many things; boring is not one of them.

I love anything with Cary Grant. He has to be my favorite actor of all time.

My favorite Alfred Hitchcock film has to be Shadow of a doubt Joseph Cotton is superb and the directing is even better if you have not seen it you have really missed out.

I would have to say "Vertigo" or "Rebecca". I am torn, because Kim Novak is so good in Vertigo, but Rebecca is just such a great story.

The Birds is number one. I'm also strangely drawn to Psycho even though I STILL close my eyes at the shower scene...lol...

Oh you just hit another nerve! Love love love anything Hitchcock and as we well can see one cannot remake those either!
I will watch any Hitchcock anytime and I think I may have passed this on to my children too! They love them too! He was brilliant in many ways.

When we were in school, we had a wonderful class on movies and our favorite part of the Hitchcock films was finding his appearance in each movie.

A good double feature would be North by Northwest followed by the Gene Wilder/Richard Pryor comedy Silverstreak. A good Hitchcock drama followed by a good comedy with a similar plot line.

I'm not sure if its my favorite but we watched Spellbound this week and really enjoyed it.. the skiing scene was a crack up! You have to remember that back then very few people watching the big screne had ever skiied and Hitchcock was probably one of the first to attempt such a scene

It is hard to pick a favorite, but I guess it would be Psycho.
I also love Strangers on a Train, Dial M for Murder, Rear Window and The Birds. Frenzy was good too.
