Is Mica good for insomnia? I found some, and the layers made me think of the Lepidolite, which I found out is a form of Mica. Mine is light greenish-silver. I also have some balls of Mica, they are interesting looking. They look like small pieces that formed into a round wad. <img src="/images/graemlins/beamedup.gif" alt="" />

Hi Firefly,

Mica is found in quite a few varieties, some looking very similar to each other. Lepidolite contains lithium, which is why I think it is so calming & soothing. I like the others but haven't worked with them as much, although I bought a lovely big piece of muscovite last month. The Crystal Bible lists insomnia as one of the issues it can help with. You could run a little sleep experiment with the piece you have.

I bought a lepidolite a couple of months ago, and have it in the place of honor, on the nightstand. Next to the black tourmaline and my Virgin Mary statue. The mica will break if I put it under my pillow, but I will add a piece or two and see if I notice any less insomnia. Or, maybe it will make my cat Hazelnut sleep, which will enable me to sleep. <img src="/images/graemlins/beamedup.gif" alt="" />

The use of religious icons is pretty widespread & although some groups of Christians don't like them I personally feel there is no harm in using a representation such as a statue to connect with the Source. The statue itself is not being worshipped, it is however a tangible link to the Virgin Mary.

Please allow others to express their faiths and beliefs when you visit my forum. There is no need to criticise everything you don't personally believe in here. I have deleted another of your posts entirely as I found it offensive in tone. You are welcome to ask questions but please do so with respect as a visitor to my forum.

However in the deleted post you did ask a valid question- about the scientific validity of vibrational methods of healing. I am glad to say that scientists are now catching up with what metaphysicists have been saying all along. Your best bet is to read up on quantum physics. The film 'What the Bleep?!' is a good layman's introduction. I have a review of it here: http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art29009.asp
You might also like to read 'Vibrational Medicine' by Richard Gerber MD it is a hard read, but sites a great number of scientific studies in this area, as does 'The Field' by Lynne McTaggart. I also suggest books by Fred Alan Wolf PhD

As a Crystal Therapist by profession I have first hand experience of the benefits of using stones for healing. I don't feel a need to 'scientifically prove' what they do as I see it with my eyes every day. People come to me poorly, depressed, sometimes written off by orthodox medicine & generally feel better & improve after seeing me. That's enough to make me very happy & proud of what I do.

Texasdave3, I have a 2 inch Glow In The Dark Virgin Mary on my nightstand. And some stones. No idols. Some of your comments, though probably made with good intentions on your part, sound like you do not have a clue what we are talking about. I am sure everyone on the forum would be glad to educate you in regards to the topics we discuss, but you will have to be a little more open minded. I have not slept well for 13-14 years now. I am tired, and if something as simple as putting a stone next to me, and I happen to sleep well that night, I am thankful. There is no medical reason we can find for my insomnia, I have been in darn near perfect health all my life. I feel this is a cross for me to bear, so I do. Rocks and stones I have collected all my life, but just in the last few years I have heard of metaphysical qualities to them. I cannot prove, nor DISPROVE these, and it is fun to read about all the stones I love. God answers my prayers when he answers them, and he has before. I do not feel anointing my house with oil will make me sleep any better, but I am willing to give it a try. Care to share that info? We were not taught that in Catholic church. And why do you say "leave the Virgin Mary?" <img src="/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" /> That is not nice!
Lauren, I took my fattest chunk of Mica and put it on the nightstand. Two nights ago. And I have slept more, meaning toss and turn less! This morning I did not wake up till 11:09! <img src="/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> I was mortified to see that half the day was gone, but I needed the sleep. Perhaps it was Divine intervention that led me to that Mica mine! <img src="/images/graemlins/rolling.gif" alt="" />

Hi Firefly
Delighted you slept so well! Don't worry about the occasional unintentional lie-in. It sounds like it was long overdue. Three cheers for mica! <img src="/images/graemlins/music.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/images/graemlins/music.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/images/graemlins/music.gif" alt="" />

I am happy to report that I slept really great last night! The true test will start when my husband returns from fishing (tomorrow). His snoring keeps me awake. On that note, <img src="/images/graemlins/music.gif" alt="" /> I think I will put another fat chunk of Mica on the nightstand. <img src="/images/graemlins/beamedup.gif" alt="" />

Sympathies Firefly. My ex snored dreadfully- I couldn't believe how loud it got. To his credit he tried various devices, but nothing worked as well as a dig in the ribs. <img src="/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" /> At least now we are seperated I have peace at last & sleep brilliantly most of the time. Not that it's a solution for you- gather you are pretty fond of your old man <img src="/images/graemlins/lovers.gif" alt="" /> perhaps we could patent crystal earplugs <img src="/images/graemlins/angel.gif" alt="" />

You know, God created everything on this earth. How do we know that we have even begun to tap into all of the miraculous wonders that He equipped us with in this planet?

I mean really; do we have thousands of different types of stones just so we can wear jewelry? Why is it so hard to believe that we don't know everything there is to know about this world that He created?

Ahhh, I'm getting ornery again. <img src="/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" /> I'll come back after I'm over the urge to rant at people! <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

S'okay Michelle, you do a very mild & loving rant {{hug}}. I feel much the same. We are blessed with a world rich in every way & I feel we should be grateful that such beauty exists around us, rather than churlishly criticising & denying these gifts.

When the blinkers of narrow minded indoctrination come off the world is there to be loved & embraced. Nothing to do with sin, temptation or anything negative- just pure joy and appreciation. If I am to be punished for working with a loving and open heart and using beautiful natural tools then I'll have to take my chances.

I have posted a forum code of conduct & from now on will be deleting any posts that are inappropriate in my opinion. Though I believe in free speech I also believe in providing a safe place for people to express themselves without fear that someone of contrary beliefs will come down on them like a ton of the proverbial. People are allowed to ask genuine questions. You and I have discussed our different beliefs before in a perfectly civilised & loving way, neither of us has an agenda to convert the other.

I will just say that if anyone doesn't like the way that I run my forum it is a free country- well world in this case- and they can vote with their feet. Go read & post elsewhere. I won't let one person spoil things for everyone else.

So there- I've said my piece too & we all know where we stand.

My preference would be lavender spray on the pillow and a piece of Lapis Lazuli or Labradorite under the pillow....

Yes, I might have said this before somewhere, but watch out that the lavender is just one or two drops or well diluted in a spray like Odie suggests. That works a treat...more is a stimulant & you really won't sleep <img src="/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" />
