Okay, despite the fact that I feed my bettas the proper amount of food, one of them will occasionally get a little constipated. I can tell because his little belly will be swollen. And honestly, I haven't had much luck with the pea. I've even tried moving it around trying to convince them it's live food, but they're just a little too savvy.

However, I also have a goldfish. Therefore, I have goldfish food. And goldfish need a LOT of vegetables in their diet so I started thinking---hmmm, fiber. Well, I have some of these Wardley's Total Goldfish Flakes that are green so I toss a small piece of flake in and (despite bettas being meateaters) all my bettas will eat it and by the next morning---someone has a little morning constitutional at the bottom of the tank.

Am I crazy and is this just pure coincidence, or does this work? Anyone else ever tried this?

All I know is that it's worked the past two times I've had a constipated fish. I would even fast the fish for a day first, just to make sure. But I just used a little bit of a flake (maybe about the size of the tip of an eraser) and overnight, problem solved. If anyone else has a constipated fish right now and the pea isn't working, give it a try and let us all know. My fish all gobbled it up. I used Wardley Total Godlfish Flakes---the flakes are green. Just a little bit. The ingredients on the back list wheat germ, oats, carrots, spinach, peas, and a few other things that would probably have lots of fiber. Can't say for sure, but it definitely worked for my fish.
