These plans are in addition to your auto insurance plan. They are a great resource to purchase. I plan on upgrading my current Allstate Motor Club plan when it renews in May.

I learned that since I drive a 4 wheel drive minivan it cost $100 to tow it since it needs to be on a lift and the tow truck driver told me it would cost me that much since my plan did not cover that cost.

Well that was when I had to get my brakes fixed and I just drove the car to the gas station to get them done.

But two weeks ago my minivan over heated and it is an hour plus drive home in the dark with two kids, so we left the minivan there and another parent drove us home via freeway that only takes 20 minutes, but I don't drive freeways.

Anyway I called the Motorclub to ask about towing and how to upgrade my membership and was told that I would only have to pay the difference of the tow, which would be $50.

Turns out my minivan made it home in one piece and next stop will be Jiffy Lube.

I have BMW Roadside Assistance, and they are so great I got rid of AAA. The only time I needed them, I was out in the middle of nowhere and got a flat. I walked to the nearest neighbors and phoned BMW, and the nearest tow truck was in the next state! I told the guy "there are no street lights out here, so I will meet you at my gate on my lawnmower, it has a headlight" <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />. Tow truck arrived, he changed my tire, and was gone! I have it for my two children also, it is $69.00 a year, per car. <img src="/images/graemlins/beamedup.gif" alt="" />

I had a friend who used to work for GM Roadside assistance when they first started coming out and he told me that it was all the same company. I believe he told me that it was all Triple A or Triple A was a part of it. Anyway, he said that this company had a bank of phones and each one was listed as GM,Ford, Chrysler etc... for their respective roadside assistance So he told me that he answered phones for all of them as did the other operators there. Whether or not that is still the case, I don't know, but it used to be.
