Hubby bought me a learn to knit kit for christmas and I finally bought some yarn.

I opened the instruction booklet and stopped dead. I am a visual learner and reading instructions does nothing, not to mention I have no clue what kind of knots and such they are talking about...so I can't even cast off that this point.

I have two sets of needles, size * & something else. I have worsted weight medium yarn, i have all these gadgets and a coutner and I have no clue what to do next.

Does anyone know of a website with good pictures and instructions for people who have to SEE in order to DO?

Thanks!
Meg

http://www.knittinghelp.com/

This is, by far, one of the best free sites on the web.

Also, is there a knitting group close by you? Often, watching others knit, and getting their help can make the learning to knit process fun!

I agree with the idea of reaching out to other knitters. As popular as knitting is these days, your local yarn shop, craft store, or rec center is probably offering classes. Or even if you have a patient friend who knits that might get you started, that would be better than trying to learn all by yourself. (I can't imagine learning to knit by reading, either!)

Good luck!
