Hi Wonderwoman - I loved Memento too. It's definitely one of those you have to watch a few times. Have you seen Fight Club, The Usual Suspects, The Village, Basic, Identity, or Cypher? These are all twisty, mind-game movies that you'll probably enjoy if you liked Memento. The Butterfly Effect is clever too, although Kutcher spoils it a bit.

Loved Twin Peaks Megan! It's one of those experiences that has stayed with me over the years and I've tried a few times to think about what it was about TP that affected me so much. Having watched Lynch's other movies and been a little disappointed with them I came to the conclusion that he works best in a longer format where he has time to allow his eccentric characters to develop gradually. In movies like Lost Highway it was too much too soon and dealt with too quickly - I never got to feel for those characters, as good as actors like Patricia Arquette and Bill Pullman are. With TP I felt I knew the people of that town - not well, but I had a sense of them as real people (I will never forget the woman with the log). It also takes a while to develop that brooding, mysterious mood - it crept up on you through the bizarre actions and dialogue of the characters and you accepted it as part of their world. I found that same effect frustrating and irritating in the movies - it was too obviously a ploy to hide the storyline from us. With TP we were satisfied each week with little bits of the story, all the while being led on a goose-chase.

Another thing that affected me from Twin Peaks was the haunting theme song "Falling" by Julee Cruise (yes, I looked the artist up, I'm not that good [imageBellaOnline ALERT: Raw URLs are not allowed in these forums for security reasons. Memento has Guy Pearce in it, Michelle, and also Carrie-Anne Moss who played Trinity in The Matrix.

Another one in the weird mind-game type genre is Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind...I didn't think I'd like it at all but I ended up loving how creative it was...

I'd like to see that. *Adds to growing future DVD rentals list*

My hubby doesn't like Jim, so I'll have to find some time to watch it by myself.
