This song could just as easily go under Christian music!
I cried the first time I heard it, it is a wonderful song - but it really makes you stop and think; how many times do we wait until the last minute until we turn stuff over to God's control?

I know I do it. I am a major control freak, and I hang onto that bit of being in charge and making my own decisions no matter what until i'm in so deep that I have no choice but to scream for help. And then I wonder why my life is so out of control?!?!

When you fight God for the steering wheel then the car is gonna swerve all over the place, but what is even scarier...
What happens if God were to ever let go of the wheel?

It's a measure of His grace and patience that he never does.

My 19 year old son and his girlfriend were cut off by a driver when they were doing 50 mph down a highway. He was able to slam on his brakes and avoid hitting the other car, but he totalled his car after hitting a tree and telephone pole. God was definitely steering his car because a few seconds or a few inches and either the other driver or my son and his girlfriend would have been killed, but they escaped with just bruises and concussions. Angels were there to gently guide the speeding car into a 4 foot tree stump (48 inches wide!) that had just been cut down to make room for the new pole.

Giving thanks is one of the most important things that we can do after we have asked God to watch over us and our loved ones. I have given thanks that God is in my life, with me and my family every minute of every day. Faith is not believing God can. It is knowing that God will. An accident like this firmly reminds us that God is always around us and with us. Thank God!!
