I've used affirmations with great success over the years & have found they have really changed the way I think and feel about myself.

Post here if you already use affirmations, are going to try some out, or have any questions to ask about them.

Thanks for the information Lauren. I've bought myself a notebook and am about to try it out. I have one question, that is - how many affirmations should you practise at once? I have recognised more than one negative thought pattern and there are also areas of my life where I'd like to inject positive energy, but I don't know whether to start with just one 'topic' or write a list of them and tackle them all at the same time <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Any advice would be greatly appreciated <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I'd just use one affirmation at a time & really put a lot of intention into it, otherwise you may scatter your energies. When that one becomes your truth you can move on to a new one. Decide where you want to prioritse first.

It's my pleasure Jane....
just remember though, that this is a gradual process, and just like any form of exercise, you need to practise assiduously, in order to see a result...it does not happen overnight...You must determine for yourself, how much you want this to happen.... and also, as in any form of exercise, there may be times when you just don't feel like doing it, or you hit a plateau... you get so far and then you feel 'blocked'....
Don't worry! Do something different, like go for a walk, or a swim... and then in time to your strokes, or strides, just tell yourself what it is you want.

Never forget just how unique and singular you are though.... you are your own best asset, and as such are worth every bit of effort you put in:

"The person who does not think much of themselves, is far greater than they believe themselves to be."

You are absolutely right Alexandra. To be successful positive thinking has to become a habit and forming a habit takes time & perseverance. Just think of the years & energy most of us have put into our negative thought patterns <img src="/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" />

You're right about it being difficult. I'll give you an example <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> - over the past three days I've built myself up into a sort of nervous agitation just expecting to have to undergo unpleasant transitions due to the solar eclipse - now really, there is no need for me to be doing things like that, nothing's very wrong in my world, and all I do is ruin my day and even perpetuate my fears - but it's so ingrained, that sort of behaviour, that to stop it is really difficult. I wasn't successful on this occasion, but I'm at least learning to look out for these unhelpful thoughts <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
