Well certainly in British culture we are taught as children that to boast is wrong & being modest is smiled upon.
Well that must be one thing that didn't get rooted out of America during the Revolution. Because trust me, we're not encouraged over on this end of the pond either! Of the "7 Deadly Sins" -
Pride is listed 1st. And I for one as a child, was not encouraged in any way to be prideful. <img src="/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" />
I don't care how well I ever did on anything, I could have always done it better. And after half a lifetime of that, its a hard habit to break. I am so used to looking for the faults, that even the good things can be turned into bad.
I am still in a struggle with someone (and myself) over using my musical abilities in church. I am afraid to push because it feels prideful, but another part of me feels I should because my songs have something important to say.
