We all have little ways we cope with being stressed out. Some are more effective than others, but we all have them.

So what's your favorite de-stress or emotionally balancing activity?

Personally, mine's cooking. I love to cook, and it calms me down wonderfully.

I second the scented candle...goes well with a nice bath and a glass of wine

I also enjoy taking a long walk while listening to my music...I get rid of some of my pent up energy.

I play the piano. It depends on what the stressor is on what type of piece I play. If i'm just down - i'll play a soothing piece, but if i'm angry I'll play a real banging piece and get out all my frustration on the keys.

It's a good thing my piano is well built!

The bath/essential oils/candle thing is probably my own favorite as well... though I usually opt for tea, like chamomile, since I am very sensitive to alcohol and thus don't generally keep it around. (Except for Everclear and vodka, lol... but those are for making products, not drinking. )

Depending on what I've been doing lately (a lot of web design work, a lot of soapmaking, etc) I alternate how I de-stress. I love to create graphics on the computer and find it really relaxing for some reason, but if I've been working online a lot, I will make soap or cook (almost the same thing!) to relax instead.

And of course- I love to take a nice hot bath and relax with a good book!

I'd have to go with Stephanie on this one...long walks with some good music in my cdplayer is the best de-stress activity for me...hot baths are good too, but cdplayers + water = bad stuff...and I need music to relax...Soundscapes on Charter is a great station to fall asleep to btw...

I always have music when I'm taking a relaxation bath. CDplayers with headphones may not work well, but a small cdplayer/boombox on the other side of the bathroom works fine.
