I've just posted a review of two good reads- one on time travel & the other on past lives.
http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art39882.asp

If you could choose where would you go in time & space?

Me, I'm drawn to the Court of King Arthur, the magic of Merlin, beautiful long gowns & virile knights clanking around being chivalrous do it for me <img src="/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Ah Janet, all that incredible art & culture, yes it must have been an amazing time. Hey that's on Earth...let's open the question up! Where & when in the Universe would you travel?

I would like to go to the amethyst cave. I keep seeing it in my mind. If I cannot find it, then I want to go to the place that is not too hot or too cold, and people are nice. Not rude or mean. If such a place exists!
I gave my sister-in-law's father a book on how to build a time machine for Christmas, and told him I would help him build this if he needed help! If he builds one, Lauren I will see about letting you take a trip <img src="/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

Hi Firefly
Great to have you back with us <img src="/images/graemlins/kiss.gif" alt="" />

Your Amethyst Cave is 'real' right now, but on an energy level...means you can visit whenever you like, no time travel required!

Looking forward to my trip in the time machine when it is ready. Where are we going first? <img src="/images/graemlins/beamedup.gif" alt="" />

I would go back and walk with Jesus Christ. I have a million questions to ask and it would be such a great pleasure to walk with and worship God face to face.

Heart of David, I would also like to go back in time and visit with Jesus and his disciples. I think it would be interesting to listen to some stories and miracles that He told to His followers on the mountainside. I would keep that time machine very close though, because life was so hard and cruel back then that I would want to fast forward to a more enlightened period. A renewal of interest in art and music and science and exploration would be a fun period to drop in on and see how people were making changes. Yes, Janet, the Renaissance period would be cool! <img src="/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

The world has always been a cruel place but If I were with Jesus I would never be safer anywhere. I too would love to hear the sermon on the mount.

I'm guessing that if we ran a poll of whom we'd most like to meet in history Christ would come out on top. His energy must have been so uplifting.

There is a philiosophy that nothing can really hurt us- but I think there aren't many of us in such a state of enlightenment which means we can walk anywhere in the world without fear of the consequences.

Hi Everyone,

I'm new here! I would love to time travel to so many places... but I think it would be particularly fun to get to sit in a big glass bubble over the pyramids in Egypt and watch 1,000 years go by in a span of about 8 hours.

Of course I'd have to bring a sandwich <img src="/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

I'd go back to the very beginning and see if my (very out there) theories about the Garden of Eden are even anywhere close to correct, LOL.

I've got a couple that people look at me strangely for:
1. Atlantis? - No-one can find either one (conincidence?)
2. the Garden of Eden was actually on a different planet, when the bible refers to the earth, it could be talking about any ground (definition of earth as opposed to Earth). After all, man named the planets, not God. Is the reason we can't succeed in space travel because we have been banned from it when we were banned from the Garden of Eden?

LOL - just my kooky theories. But it would be neat to go back to the beginning and watch everthing being created!

Firefly- I can just imagine you sitting up there in your bubble calling out directions. <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Wow Michelle- you really have been working that imagination- but you never know you might be onto something & all discoveries start with someone doing some fresh thinking. I used to think Atlantis was just a myth, but I'm not so sure now. Mankind developing an exceptionally sophisticated civilisation & then blowing it all by getting too greedy feels kind of familiar!

As for space travelling Adam & Eve- if we were brought into being through Divine intervention he/she/it didn't just create the Earth (unless different planets/galaxies have different Creators I guess)? There's a whole Universe out there where intelligent life most probably exists. I have an exceptionally honest and remarkably clairvoyant friend who does readings for people & occasionally finds that they are from another star system & their souls are here to 'try out' an Earth incarnation. A bit mind boggling, but if you can accept that quantum physics is proving that everything & everyone is connected then maybe not so far out after all. <img src="/images/graemlins/beamedup.gif" alt="" />

Try reading a book called "Rare Earth". It will scientifically make you question your friend's clairvoyant abilities. I warn you though. Don't read it unless you are prepared to learn the truth. Most people are comfortable in their delusions.

Boy, I wouldn't be able to choose!

I love Michelles Idea of going back to the beginning of creation... that sure would answer a heckuva lot of questions!

I'd love to hear Jesus speak... I think it would confirm a lot of my suspicions that a lot of his sayings have been corrupted.

I'd love to meet the Buddha, also, as well as Confucius, Moses, Abraham, Mohammed, Elizabeth I, Abraham Lincoln, Harriet Tubman, Martin Luther King, Da Vinci, Beethoven, Monet....

I'd love to see the great arts and architecture of the world being constructed, painted or composed....

I'd love to meet some historical villains and do everything I could to change their minds.

I'd love to go back and meet my 16-year old self. Give myself a good slap across the face, take the Snickers bar out of my hand, and give myself my record collection and a few books. LOL.

Texas Dave, I have a lot of experience of clairvoyants; I used to run psychic fairs. I can spot a charlatan a mile off. The lady I am referring to has given astonishing readings to me over the last couple of years with many specific & verifiable points in them. In fact when I go over the transcripts & note what has happened they have been absolutely spot on- even things that I thought were highly unlikely at the time have come to pass- even down to the actual vocabulary people have subsequently used. She is a deeply spiritual lady with no 'ego-centred' need to show off.

It is always wise to hold the position of 'healthy sceptic' when visiting a psychic, especially if you don't have any 'track record' to go on. I agree with you there, but there is no delusion going on in this case.

Megan- you better saving your air miles for this time travelling bonanza <img src="/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> Sounds like huge fun.

Oh, I think I'd probably have to go back more than once to kick myself in the butt! And I'd probably slap a couple of guys along the way, too! <img src="/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" />
And I would definitely go back and tell my Sr. Prom date "no", because I found out 2 days later that the sweetest guy had wanted to ask me out, but was too shy, and by the time he got his nerve up I was already going with someone else. I would have had a lot more fun with Chad! <img src="/images/graemlins/music.gif" alt="" />

Yes, I have been thinking about things, and I would most of all like to go back and enjoy the time I had with my children. Forget about the teenage screwups, I would just like more time with my children. <img src="/images/graemlins/beamedup.gif" alt="" />

Ah Michelle, there are always going to be some decisions we regret- we can't go through every door that is opened to us, we have to make choices with the best information we have at the time. Hindsight is a glorious thing. However the beauty of this one is you can have an untainted daydream about the romantic time you could have had at that prom <img src="/images/graemlins/kiss.gif" alt="" /> the daydream might be more fun & much longer lasting than the date!

Firefly- reading this one as a mum of a teenager here. Sooo difficult to stop silly spats. We are all human & although I pull myself up for it I lose it too! Doesn't mean we love our kids any less or that they stop loving us- thank goodness- but your post is a good reminder that these times are precious.

I love the idea of watching something happen that we don't know the whys and wherefores of. Stonehenge- yes! Or visiting any one place to watch it change over the course of years- fascinating -like timelapse photography. I live at Niagara Falls and think it is really interesting to see how it has "backed up" 15 kms. from its origins. I would love to walk this area to see the landscape before the years have taken their toll.

I would love to see the Earth in a natural state, without roads and buildings and pollution everywhere. And a totally dark sky, so all the shooting stars could be seen, a glorious Milky Way. Perhaps before the continents shifted, so we could take a walk across the Bering Strait.
A Time Machine tour around the world! Pick your destination/century. But also, I'd love to have been there during the Pax Romana, in a lovely villa on the coast...

The Laws of Time Travel are a series of ideas intended to make sure that people don't break the universe or space when they travel backwards, forwards, or sideways (in out in out you shake it all about) in time. A joint effort by a committee of scientists led by Uri Geller and Doctor Who, the Laws of Time Travel provide a helpful guide for anyone who finds themselves travelling in time either accidentally or (in my case) on purpose.

The most important thing to do is:

Talk Proper

The grammar of time travel can get quite complex, particularly if you happen to bump into yourself (oh hello). Remember that things that will happen in the past always happened in the past and so the tenses you use should be consistent with that. While there is a ...erm...I've forgotten where I was. Forget all this. Watch Doctor Who if you're that bothered.

Darling I'm off to the Globe in London tomorrow to see the bloodthirsty Titus Andronicus. They built the Globe theatre to be an authentic remake of the Shakespearian theatre. You have to stand unless you are posh & can afford the balconies. (I'm standing!) It would be especially authentic if we were allowed to throw rotten fruit, but modern audiences are much too polite.

Thanks for the handy & inessential advice. Will have to get a copy. I reckon Firefly's machine must be nearly ready for the off. Give you a wave in the 12th century <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Lynn that would be a great use of a time machine you know. Actually our ancestors keep an eye on us, but it would be good to meet them in the flesh.

I would love to add a queation here for bella harmony or anyone out there. how do you like this theory: if the Garden of Eden and Atlantis our the same... And Merlin and King Authur and the knight of the round table lived in Atlantis ( I read that in a book somewhere and it stuck) could it be possable for Merlin to be God and King Authur to be Jesus and the Knights be the Deciples of Christ with Judus being the first Knight? after all God had His Plans for the future and knew how things would go... and Adam and Eve where made in His image and were very close. Could it be posable that over time God became a myth of England and Whales? Just a thought

Hi Freebubbles,
While I don't presume to know how and why each era's myths and legends were made, I do enjoy seeing the similarities in each... eg. the sleeping hero who will come to rescue his people in their hour of need, the one who betrays the one who loves them best, the great leader who springs from humble origins, even the mystery around the leader's conception and birth. Some will say all stories are in reality one story. For some, these similarities create trouble in their systems of belief, a faith crisis... for others, this similarity is a comfort and their faith is the stronger for it.
Interesting though, isn't it?

I'd head back to the mid- or late-1800s. Maybe even the very early 1900s. There was SO much going on during that era--social change, the aggrarian shift, changes in medicine/education, great population migrations.

You can find them all in Hero of a Thousand Faces by Joseph Campbell.

Such as the hero born of royal parents but raised by lowly ones who later finds out his inheritency. Harry Potter follows this, as does Luke Skyewalker (George Lucas admittedly having used Campbell's book to fashion a plotline that would resonate deep within people).

It doesn't challenge my faith but make me realize everyone is talking about the same elementals, deep beliefs that change name but not form from culture to culture. Kinda makes one believe in Plato's forms and the Akashic record as well.

Excellent idea! When we embark on our time machine journey it would be a good idea if we were dressed properly, since we will be speaking properly. I might look a tad out of place in my tie die and blue jeans. I feel familychoice would be a good choice for Grammar Coach. I can sew, sew I will help with Apparel.

Whoa! I've been out of the loop on this thread! LOL

Ok - i can see Jesus as King Arthur (although Arthur was much older and way more prideful than Jesus) Judas as Sir Lancelot? um, maybe. But Merlin as God - I'd more place God as Camelot itself - the Essence of King Arthur.

Of course where does Guinevere fit in? Mary Magdalene - that's a little odd.

Ah - this is just too confusing! <img src="/images/graemlins/tongue2.gif" alt="" />

It would be nice if, when recommending a book, I get the title right! <img src="/images/graemlins/tongue2.gif" alt="" /> It's Hero WITH a Thousand Faces. It's a hugely popular book; I'd hazard a guess you can pick one up cheap at a used book store.

Check out also Joseph Campbell web site , author of that book

freebubbles, that is a good point about the cameras. We will have to go with the microscopic covert cameras, perhaps have one implanted say in someone's beard, or a walking stick. We all should draw (we can pose as a pack of "artists", no one will be the wiser). When we return to the time machine after each adventure, we can compare drawings and laugh.

Well, maybe I can find a baby <img src="/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> I figure if I time travel, I want to be invincible. That way I can take risks. Or maybe invisible would be better.... I would be to prone to popping off at the mouth and altering history LOL.

Hmm I've just been watching a three part drama on the Bermuda Triangle & wormholes in time. I didn't like the look of what it did to the main characters- lots of glimpses of alternate realities <img src="/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" /> We'd better be careful!

1) Since I occasionally have terrifying nightmares of T-Rex chasing me, I will stay in the TM (time machine) during the dinosaur adventure. I love Brontosaurusii. <img src="/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" /> 2) Back in the olden days abandoned babies would be found, in woven boats, waiting for the right person to be at the river and hear them cry. We will have to search all rivers! 3) I think the first thing we should do is watch Dr. Who in the TM Theater. Leather recliners and endless supply of popcorn. 4) I am hoping John Criton can go with us, since he is a wormhole expert. He knows when they will appear and is cute. <img src="/images/graemlins/devil.gif" alt="" />

I would like to go back to the signing of our Declaration of Independence. I would love to meet George Washington. And then pop forward a few years to the time of Lincoln.

Wow, i'd realy like to visit myself, out of time reference, so i could lean as self in a state of Spirit, remembering the eternity of my existence... ok, so down-to-earth, i'd like to visit the big bang... euh.. ok, realy down-to-earth, i'd ... i don't know realy. I might want to sit in meditation, simply.

We could give them a one way ticket on the Time Machine! <img src="/images/graemlins/beamedup.gif" alt="" /> BTW, the other day I noticed my friend has a copy of The Time Machine. I do not know if I saw it a long time ago, but I borrowed it, and will do the research and report back. <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

I think I would like to go back to prehistory when goddess worship was prevalent. I would like to see if it really was as peaceful as the writers make it out to be.

Looks like someone has beaten us to it in the time machine stakes. This is an archaeologist in Macedonia, Pasko Kuzman, mentioned in Yahoo news today
Quote:
Pasko's signature tools include three weighty watches he wears on his left wrist, what he calls his "time machines." With one he says he travels to the Bronze and Neolithic ages. With another to the future. And with the third, his "archaeological watch" with its special sensors, he makes his finds. "If it beeps twice it is silver; three times and I've struck gold."

Here's the rest of the article: Uncovering the Mask of Macedonia
