BellaOnline Forums Education Colleges Financial Aid Disbursement Issues

Okay, so here is my latest woe:

I'm waiting on my disbursement check which is to cover living expenses (my car payment is way over due), so I call the school to ask when I can expect it and I'm told that they've decided to hold disbursement checks until the Friday before school starts. When I ask them why, they say that there was a problem with students using the money for things other than school and not have $ left over for books and things.
So now, they're trying to think for us too. So I asked the lady why not just buy our books for us so that all I have to do is pick them up with my check, and she says "I don't know"

So now I have all these books requiring payment on ebay and I'm scrambling around trying to get the $ before I receive bad feedback.
If they want to hold themselves responsible for student's spending, then they should be responsible for buying the books as well.

Wow.

I remember my financial aid never came til later and it was always a problem trying to "make do" until it came!!

Nothing like a little extra stress to start the semester. I guess they figure that since classes aren't really stressful yet, something has to be. J/K...

Heavy. I'm taking Mythology, Hellenistic & Roman Religions, History of Theatre and Latin. All classes require research papers, one of which has to consist of 2500 words or more.

And how I ended up with professors who require that you read every assigned chapter BEFORE class or suffer a pop quiz, I'll never know!

That's what it takes to be a student. Just endure the suffering and you will be rewarded when you graduate..You'll never know.
