Have you ever had an angelic encounter? I was feeling a bit sorry for myself yesterday. I felt guided to pick up my copy of Doreen Virtue's 'Angel Medicine'. Two hours later my mood was transformed & I was filled with inspiration & raring to go once more!

I have. During an unhappy time in my life (marriage difficulties), I was walking along in front of a store, and an older woman going into the store looked at me and said something very profound. I have never been able to remember her uplifting words, but as soon as she said them I thought OMG! that was an angel!" She went on into the store, I kept walking and will never forget that moment. They are around when we need them. <img src="/images/graemlins/angel.gif" alt="" />

Lauren, coming into your forum as a Christian I would have thought that there would have been much that I would disagree with you on. However I have been very happy to find out the opposite! I feel that God created nature and works through it and has left His hand upon it in many ways.

But in this one area, I do worry that people often go in blindly. Angels are wonderful messengers, protectors, and often warriors of God; I do not dispute this fact at all. But I think that sometimes a person goes seeking an "angel" and just reaches out for the first essence he or she finds. Not everything out there is of God. And those forces that are not good are tricky, and would like nothing better to lead an innocent soul down a path of pain and misery (all the while pretending to be a spiritual guide).

I am not saying this is what happens to everyone, but it is especially important for those that are young, those that are lonely & hurting, and those that are in the greatest need to be careful. Because these are the souls that are the easiest to prey on. People in these circumstances would do better in a church, OR with someone experienced in this area to help guide them, rather than going seeking angels alone through a book.

This of course is my opinion, and I'm sorry if I've stepped on your toes Lauren. I hope I haven't offended you or anyone else with these words.

Hi Firefly
Many New Age writers talk now of 'Earth Angels', people in incarnation who are sent to say something at just the right moment to a person who needs a message. Sounds like this lady was doing her job really well.

Michelle, the bad does exist alongside the good & it would be foolish not to recognise this. This is why my advice on spirit guidance is to check that the messages are loving. If a guide tells you to do something that would be harmful to yourself or someone else then they aren't a true guide & should be firmly dismissed. You are right about some people being more vulnerable for whatever reason. The key is to have a clear intent to call on angelic assistance.

Ultimately we have full responsibility for our actions and cannot hide behind spirit messengers, so you are right to advise caution. An infamous serial killer over here, The Yorkshire Ripper, told the court he was hearing God's voice telling him to kill prostitutes. Officially he was labelled schizophrenic, but I feel a malicious entity was probably behind the messages.

Fortunately the good guys are all around us and really can be called on when we need them, they don't need anyone to act as an intermediary for you. You don't need training to ask for an angel to assist you, although anyone wanting to take this further might like to take a course. Angels are around us whether we are Christian or not. You don't need to go to church to contact one, although you may choose to if this fits with your beliefs. No-one should ever be scared of calling on an angel- that really would be a victory for the 'other side' wouldn't it?

My concern is not for the average person, it is for the person who is in "desperation" or a weak place in their own spirit.

The evil essences out there are not dumb, they don't approach someone spouting hate and destruction. The best lies are the ones based partially in truth! Thas't why I said they are tricky. They will come in and try to lull a person into a state of safety and comfort, adn then start with small lies that sound reasonable and justifiable - and then work up. I'm sure the shooters at Columbine and the other schools didn't just wake up one day and decide "I'm going to blow away everyone and that will make it fine." The thought processes worked up to it until it seemed like a reasonable solution to them!

My urgings are just to be careful. Make sure everything you hear is out of love and goodness - because angels (as mouthpieces of God) can give nothing else! They cannot ever esspout revenge, justice, or wrath - once again because these are not the provinces of man, but of God - so angels would never ask man to perform any of them; especially not as a single individual!

You are right Michelle- the quality of message is all important and angels will *never* prompt us towards negative action- nor will genuine spirit guides. Those in desperation can still call on angels though- their need is greatest. Anyone who is unsure or fearful can go through a recommended healer, angel worker or the church.

Well I've had a *big* angelic encounter since writing the article on angels. I'd finished healing for the day & had completed a couple of really 'heavy duty' sessions that needed a lot of dark energy clearing. I knew when I said goodbye to the last client I didn't 'feel right' & I'd picked something negative up. I went downstairs to wrap some Christmas presents & as I stood wrapping at the table I said to my guides "I don't feel right." They said "You will in a moment."

Next thing I got a very strong energy rush, starting at my feet and working its way right up my body, until my whole self felt filled with the strongest energy I've ever experienced. I didn't feel scared, but I did wonder if my heart was strong enough to withstand it. Then I had the sensation of several lumps of stuff being pulled away from the back of my head- the negative energies I'd picked up in the healing. After this the sensations gradually faded. The closest I can describe it is that it felt like my body was being 'energised' like on Star Trek when they beam people up!

I intuitively felt this was an encounter with Archangel Michael. The next day I was visiting a friend who has worked with angels for years and described the experience. She immediately said it was Michael too and that she'd had a similar experience once. According to her he has the strongest energies of all the angels.

All I can say is though I wasn't sure I'd live through the intensity of the experience I'd willingly go through it again tomorrow!
