I wrote an article about my thought on Cameron Diaz in The Sound of Music. What do you think about a remake of this classic? http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art38000.asp

Well, I can't read your article right now on the subject (it won't load); but if Julie Andrews gives her thumbs up on the project, I'd say that's a rather rousing endorsement!
Do you have any idea if that was Cameron Diaz's real voice that was used in "The Mask" with Jim Carrey? If so, then she's not bad.

I couldn't get anything to load yesterday either.
My thoughts were that why remake something that is already great. Some things should never be remade like The Sound of Music or Gone with the Wind. I think that was her voice in "The Mask" which was great. I just think any remake will not be considered good no matter what. It might even be bad for her career. That was my agruement.

I actually don't care for Cameron's voice. Even her speaking voice annoys me for some reason.
I don't see that need to remake such a classic. There's so many other musicals that's not on film yet. They should look to making any of those their own classics.

Here, Here on the remaking classics sentiment. It's not as though there aren't good stories out there to make into films, why keep re-doing something that was done so well the first time?
I don't think that Cameron Diaz has the substance, maybe seriousness/intensity would be more accurate word choice, to play that role. Maybe she'll prove all her doubters wrong but it just doesn't seem like a good fit. I could actually see someone like Patricia Arquette (don't know if she can sing) or Sarah Jessica Parker doing it better.

Bad joke! I don't think Cameron Diaz has much talent at all, and I would not see the remake (if this isn't a joke).

I've never seen the point in re-doing something that's good, either, esp. since the remake will never be as good (kind of why I get upset when people do covers of good classic artists like the Beatles--as if they'll ever be better or do anything but mess up the song to a laughable point!!).
