Dear all,
I am at crossroads now. I have taken the GMAT (Score: 720) and the TOEFL (283 CBT). I will graduate next june, and would like to ask a few questions:
1. Is it a good idea to apply for an MSF (Master of Science in Finance), and then get some work experience before applying for a top MBA?
2. Is MSF directed only at financial markets?
Thank you

Sorry, I don't know all the answers to your questions. However, getting some work experience first is usually a good idea becuase often times, you can find an employer who is willing to assist in paying for your education.
My current employer pays for 50%.

It really depends on your career goals. If you are planning a career in Finance then a MSF is definitely the way to go as it is more targeted towards finance, whereas a MBA is going to be more general. If one of your goals is to get a Master's from a top school why not get your MSF from a top school?

Btw, congrats on that GMAT score!

Congrats on your GMAT score! Quite an accomplishment. As others have stated so well, your choice of degree is dependent upon your intentions after you graduate. If you opt for the MBA, you can take your electives in finance. If you opt for the MSF, you can take your electives in business. Either way, the demand for both degrees remains constant. Best of luck to you! Lynn Byrne-Graduate School Editor
