Formerly - Favorite Son's names.

My neighbour's kids name's all start with the letter J. My other neighbour's kids names ended in the A sound. Their replacement (new neighbour's) childrens names start with N. My best friend's sister named all her kids starting with an S and my friend always thought it was silly to do so, but then named all her kids with an E.

My childrens names are not only last names, but both start with the same sound, and are the names of US presidents. NONE OF THIS WAS DONE ON PURPOSE, It just turned out that way. We didn't want their names to be similar but when Kennedy came along we didn't like any other name for her. So we fell into the name matching cliche! <img src="/images/graemlins/wall.gif" alt="" />

I'm glad we named our son Carter he is a Carter.

I still really like my first choice though Ethan. Only problem, my husbands last name is Allen and he wouldn't go for it.

Other names: Carson, Jordon, Evan, and Jackson.

I found naming both my kids very difficult I didn't like a lot of names. Anyone else have problems?

I don't blame your husband! LOL-
I loved the name Jonah, but can you imagine Jonah Crawford? I just kept picturing Joan Crawford and now nobody remembers her, but this was just a few years after "Mommie Dearest".

And, yes, I had big difficulty naming my kids. My daughter was three days old before I made up my mind.

Yes naming kids is a hard job! I really love the name Iain or Liam (which will be our sons name when he is born in a few weeks, his twin sister name will be Irelyn.)

I love the names Carter and Carson, I wanted one of those names for one of the twins but my husband wouldnt agree, so we went with Caleb and Colton...I wanted Carson and Colton.

I love so many names. When you were young girls did you have certain names picked out that you were GOING to name your kids? Husbands kind of kick that to the curb huh! Out of my soon to be 4 kids, I only named one out of that list of names and that is our daughter Irelyn...go figure the hubby joins in on the boys names.

When I was a kid, I wanted a daugher named "Aubrey" from the song by Bread. But, I didn't like the sound of it with my last name.

I didn't think that way when I was young. I was too career focused.

My daughter is Kennedy. I liked Alexis, Sydney, Taylor. My cousin named his kids these names before I could swipe them.

I really liked Evan but my girlfriend who lost her baby (both ours were due at the same time) named him Evan so the name was gone along with the dear little soul.

Some names my husband liked I couldn't get people outta my head that had that name... Brandon, Ken, Aaron, all not so top notch people in my book. Anyone else have this issue?

Yes I did for sure, like he loved Cameron, and well one of my first boyfriends name was Cameron and...I just couldnt do it, my friend just named her daughter Kameryn and I call her Kami. Or did you have the issue where you really loved a name and then you met a little kid who was a terror with that name and it ruined it...that is how I am with a few names.

My brother and I have very different names. They don't even have the same origin. For my generation none of the family friends or cousins had names that had similarities throughout all the siblings in their family.

Is naming kids with The same first letter, or with a theme, or the same last letter a new thing?

In thinking about names and siblings I'm not sure why past generations in my family were so unimaginative.

Take my mom's grandparents for instance. Their names were John and Ann. Their kids were named John, Ann, Mary, George, Corneilius, Mable, Johnny, Annie. (Yes the last two were the same as the first two kids).

Or take my grandparents, they named my Aunt Roberta and my dad Robert. Anyone else out there have the same name as their sibling?

If you loose a child and then have another baby is it OK to use the deceased child's name when naming the new child?

Perhaps weird but my kids are alphabetical, LOL. All of them have family names except Emily, I'm not sure why.

C - Cathryne (my mother)
E - Emily
J - Jayden (closest female name to my husband's name)
L -Liam (middle name is hubby's grandfather)
N - Nicholas (He will be called by his middle name, Garrett, when he's born this fall - nicholas is my grandfather and a cousin of hubby's who passed away 2 yrs ago)

It would of been weird if your children's names spelled a word in order of oldest to youngest.
