I was reading about the indigo children, and the whole time, I'm thinking, this is me...I found a link listing indigo adult traits. It listed 25 and said that indigo adults typically have most, if not all of these traits. I have 21. Does this mean I'm an indigo? I was born in 1981. I have always been very empathetic (to the point my mother can mention she has a headache, etc and within an hour and usually within 30 minutes, I have whatever she had mentioned). I have a hightened 6th sense (but can't control it, and it doesn't happen often) and always have. Basically just want your opinions about what this means.

I don't know what it means either, but when I was reading about Indigo and Crystal children, the description for the Crystal children was me. Except I am 49. I think they have always been around, but today we are more aware, there has been research going on for decades, it is much more accepted than it used to be so now there are labels for the children. But it is not new. Except for the hyper part and I feel that is a result of "progress", meaning junk in the food the children eat, sugar, pollution in the air and ground. There have been hyper children throughout history, I think, with the stress they are exposed to these days, well who wouldn't get hyper? They pick up on things. Check your family history as far back as possible. Ask your mom about her mom. If Granny is alive, ask her.

Well, my maternal grandmother definately has a "gift". That's probably where I got it from. I agree with the thought that our poor diet has affected our children in negative ways. I don't know yet what I think about this. I know there are things that happen that our current knowledge cannot explain. What should I ask about? I think my mom would probably get a little freaked. She is very grounded. She has seen me know and predict things and she still doesn't really believe it. Thanks for the response!

Hi Amber, you sound like an Indigo to me <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> One of the older ones that's all! Firefly is right, there have been people with the characteristics of Indigo children for as long as we can say- but they were unusual in their abilities & were labelled sensitives, or clairvoyants (or nuts!). Families do tend to pass on these gifts too, so you could have had these abilities in any case.

These days there are lots of children & young adults like yourself with these abilities, which is why the new label of Indigo has been used. As we go forwards into the future it will become much less 'freaky' to be talking about seeing spirits, trusting your intuition, picking up vibes etc because so many people know they can do it now. One day it may be freaky to deny the existence of these abilities and weird not to use them!!

That sounds good to me! One thing I was thinking about...The first big "crop" of indigos is reaching adulthood. We have just started hearing about adult ADD or ADHD. Coincidence??
Thanks for the response!

There are supposedly different flavors of Indigos. According to Nancy Ann Tappe, there are four different types of Indigos:

http://janetboyer.com/Four_Types_Of_Indigos.html

I'm an adult Indigo, and apart from the four types that Tappe has identified, I've noticed two different "flavors" regarding "empathy". There are Indigos that are more emotionally detached and "airy". Then there are the other types that are extremely emotional and sensitive to the moods to others. (I correlate this with Empath Emoting from the Ansir personality system...which closely parallels Dr. Barbara Bower's auric system). I've picked up the differences from interacting with other Indigos on several Yahoo lists over the last 5 years.

Then there are the Crystals which are different from Indigos, and now the Rainbow children. Of course, depending on which author you read or who you ask, there is differing opinions on what this can mean.

Crystal children are usually very environmentally sensitive and some theorize that this can correlate to what is considered "high functioning autism" in some.

What all of these individuals have in common, though, are psychic gifts and an incredible BS detector.

I think what has been happening is: the children are hyper and the parents and teachers are going crazy. The day is not long enough and there are too many things that need our attention. Classrooms are very large and hyper behavior can be disruptive. So medication is made available for the kids to chill out. At the same time, parents are thinking "hey I have these symptoms! (ADD or ADHD) I have 10 projects I started 10 years ago and I would like to complete them!". So they see the doctor, and soon they are able to focus better at work or home. I know people my age and older who are ADD or ADHD; some of them take medication. It is wonderful after a lifetime of bouncing off walls while trying to be subtle about it, to be able to go from room to room without ricocheting. My point being, the adult ADD and ADHD are older than you realize. But a book about young gifted children being born, a new generation, sounds more interesting and refreshing than a study about graying people with arthritis and ADD. LOL.

I'm a humanist, too.

Personally, I've never had any symptoms of ADD. While I'm a great multi-tasker, I have no trouble focusing when I need to (and when I'm interested).

It seems to me that the public school system is out of touch on many fronts. First, they gather a bunch of kids all the same age. Then, the force feed rote knowledge and mostly test regurgitation (not retention). Life skills are usually not taught and in rural schools, even home ec, music, and art are no longer taught.

No wonder kids (and adults) hate learning! We've removed delight-led learning and curiosity from the equation, not to mention the different ways kids learn (learning styles). You gotta wonder if ADD and such are manifestations of individuals "expanding" consciousness and it's coming out in antsiness and such! (It's a theory anyway).

*steps off soapbox*

LOL
