Michelle, thanks for putting up the link for "auras" so stamping chick, Dave and I can check it out. Thanks, Chela, for giving us a yoga/meditation type explanation to go with our spiritual side. And, Lauren, I know exactly what you mean when you say it is just there. That is what God does sometimes. Trying to balance our own energy can be so tiring, but working to help someone else balance their energy is a draining feeling of exhaustion, like Chela said.
I personally have never seen colors, but I have certainly felt sparks and could feel electricity and healing with massages and therapies.

The Bible lists specific giftings and reading auras is not on that list. If it is outside the will of God it is sin. 'Nuff said.

The gift of music isn't on the spiritual gifts list either, but it is still a talent given by God that He intends for me to use, more often than not for His glory!
Reading and manipulating auras may not fall under the category of spiritual gift, but you do not have the right to say that it is not a talent that God has bestowed upon certain people. God has many ways of using people: I do not pretend to know all of them. Do you?

Yes Wendy I think you have a point. If God is love, Texas Dave needs to do a little reflection.
You'll see on my forum under the Mica thread that I have referenced several scientific works that will enlighten Texas Dave & anyone else who doubts the validity of our discussion. Between them they site many well documented experiments.

I never said I didn't love you. I don't love sin. Physical talents ( like singing ) are there for all to see. Spiritual giftings are to be scripturally tested. If they fail that test you are not to follow them. The Bible specifically warns against divination. Reading auras would fall under that.

Just in case Texas Dave has worried anyone- I'm through with trying to reason with such a closed mind- seeing & sensing auras is not the same as divination. Auras are there, they are real & you don't need to 'believe' anything to be aware of them. They aren't mentioned as such in the Bible as far as I am aware, however the halo depicted around the heads of saints is an energy manifestation in the aura.
Personally I do not feel divination is 'evil' or 'sinful' either, but I am aware that many churches speak out against it. Decide for yourself and only ever do what you feel happy with- no-one should tell you to go against your own judgement and beliefs.

Lauren, Let's see how open minded you are. Are you open to racism? How about nazism? No? Me neither. Does that make us close minded? To some degree, yes. We ALL close our minds to certain concepts if we believe them to be harmful. So, yes, I am close minded to some things I find harmful. So are you. You and I probably just disagree with what those particular things are.

Lauren, Dave hasn't worried me and I doubt any of the rest of us. I found nothing against any of this in the bible but I did see many portrayals showing "auras" around the heads of saints in pictures in the bible. I know these are merely depictions of saints by scholars and artists, but according to the definition, it is a "distinctive atmosphere, luminous radiation". WOW!! This is just what WE ALL have been talking about. We can really either SEE or FEEL that distinctive atmosphere around certain people.
Other people, it seems, lack any sort of visble "aura". Maybe it is like faith, you must possess it to illuminate it. Faith is not believing God can but KNOWING God WILL.

Auras are just part of the "new age" philosophy. It really isn't new age at all, it is just plain old paganism, divination, and witchcraft that just seems new to a generation ignorant of history. It is very old and the Bible says it is evil. If you want to be a good Christian why don't you try spending more time spreading the message of Christ rather than worrying about auras or other such stuff?
