Hello everyone and happy Autumn! Me and my family are getting ready to celebrate El Dia De Los Muertos. We are building an alter in our house in honor of our ancestors and of course going to La Misa. How are you celebrating your Halloween or El Dia De Los Muertos?

Here in San Francisco, I'll be celebrating Samhain with my pagan community on Sat the 29th and then going down to the Mission district on Nov 2nd to join the La Dia De Los Muertos parade and event that night.

Many of the sentiments and the altar building are similar so it seem very natural when I started participating in the Day of the Dead event.

That's great. I am sharing El Dia De Los Muertos with my husbands family for the first time. They are Catholic so they were quite surprised to learn the origins of their holiday. <img src="/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
I wonder, do you celebrate the season still or regulated day?

I celebrate Samhain as the seasonal holiday for me at this time of year. As with most large public events, I go to events on whatever day they are held, but on the actual Samhain night this year (Oct 31), I'll be home, having a quiet ritual for myself. As a kid, I was a big fan of Halloween, and whereas I still adore any sort of costume dress-up, I indulge that sort of thing in other ways now and don't do Halloween.
