I will probably have tons of questions. I have only made one curtain (although very large and lined) in my sewing experience. I have hemmed several pairs of pants, but that is fairly easy.
I have a pattern for a loose-fitting slipcover for an ottoman. The ottoman for the pattern is 36x24x13.5. My actual ottoman is 27x18x15.5. So I'm trying to adjust the pattern accordingly. It is Butterick 3229, although it is old enough it is no longer on their website, even under "out of print" patterns. Anyway. Based on their ottoman size of 36x24x13.5 they have a "cut one section" of 45Wx55L, then cut ties. The only "pattern piece" is a guide that helps round the corners of the 45x55 piece so there isn't so much extra fabric to tuck down when tying each of the 4 corners. I'm not sure I understand how the 36x24x13.5 relates to the 45x55 cut piece. Logic tells me the piece should be the width of the ottoman plus twice the height, by the length of the ottoman plus twice the height. But that doesn't correlate to their sizes. Please help me understand! I am hoping to get this done in the next month...
