He's only saying the same things we've all said or thought at some time or another....

He should not be crucified for being blunt...

I still support him and his CBN ministry.

I have a question for you, Jenna.

If a religious leader in another country called for the death of our president, because they were unhappy with him the way that Pat Robertson is unhappy with the president of Venezuela, would you feel that the religious leader in the other country was "only saying the same things we've all said or thought at some time or another...."?

Well Rae, I guess you would have to ask someone in the other country that question... right now there are people who feel just that way... they hate us and what we stand for and asassinating our President is number one on their to-do list.

Here is an update on some of the fall out from Pat Robertson's comments: http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20050825/ap_on_re_us/robertson_assassination

Alot of times people say things out of frustration. I, too am frustrated.
I know that the end result is all in God's hands. But in the mean time I sometimes feel that someone should just "take out" Osama Bin Ladin and get it over with. I have family members who are in the line of fire as I speak (type). I worry about them and pray for them all the time.

But, for me, and them, the answer is not to pull out and just let it be; there are children being raised by their grandparents or aunts and uncles or foster families because of terrorism, in this country and those (Iraq, Afghanistan). There are a whole bunch of heroes in heaven....the firemen who were going up the Trade center stairs while others were trying to get down. The men and women who thwarted the plan to crash a plane into the White House, possibly killng hundreds more...they are true martyres, dying to save the lives of others.

My brother in law who was awarded the purple heart for saving the life of one of his soldiers. My other brother in law who is in the line of fire and says that he feels like there is always a target n his back when he walks down the street in Bagdad. How the soldier standing just to his right was killed in a snipers fire and how it could have easily been him.

Is it EVER right to take the life of another, to incarcerate someone based on the chaos that their existance instigates? I don't have all the answers...maybe you should ask God...

All I am saying is that there have been times when I have watched the news reports and, being a veteren myself, I have felt "Just get me within 350 yards and show me his head and I'll do it..." Christian? Not Christian? Doesn't matter what label we pin on a person, the fact remains that ALL OF US HAVE DEALT with he same frustration as Pat Robertson.....look at Cindy Sheehan... Let's just not lose sight of why we are fighting and what we are fighting for...

Some have said it's starting to be like Vietnam....So let's not LET it become like Vietnam!!! SUPPORT THE MEN AND WOMEN WHO ARE DEFENDING YOUR GOD-GIVEN FREEDOM!!!!

And support each other in these times of frustration and anxiety...even Pat Robertson...

I wish we could get just the leaders together, make them put on boxing gloves and work it out that way. Like that video that was done back in the 80s by Frankie Goes To Hollywood for the song "Two Tribes."

I feel that violence just begets more violence, and often it's the spiritual leaders who are the ones that can get the politicians and military leaders to slow down and try and talk it out.

I'm praying for the leaders on both sides of this conflict to come to their senses.

The thing that is so frustrating is that NONE of the leaders, ours, theirs, Europe's, anyone's actually CARE about the people. Everyone just wants to be RIGHT and come out on top. I have defended Bush for so long, I still think he went INTO this with good intentions, but it has gone on so long, now all he's concerned with is can he save his own butt!

There are real people, families, children, babies that are suffering from this. Our soldiers, our widows & orphans; other countries have the same thing - just because they don't fight for our side doesn't mean they're wrong - some of them are 22 year old kids w/ babies that don't know anything about politics that just wnat to serve their country, too!

How many of our 19 year old privates over there really have any idea what the politics are about? They know what they hear on CNN (when they can), and they know what their CO tells them. If they are lucky they get news from back home or have access to newspapers.

I think this may be my least coherent post, but I don't know how ti make it make more sense. <img src="/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

I don't think frustration entitles Robertson to encourage our government to break a Commandment.

Frustration is what makes most murders happen, and they are all abominable.

I hope he is on his knees today, praying for wisdom and forgiveness.

No, I didn't meant frustration made his remark OK, I meant the entire situation is so out of hand, I don't think there is any "good" way out of it. I don't think there can be a "winner". I used to agree with the Vietnam thinking that we couldn't just back out, but I'm starting to change my mind. Why do innocent children have to die just because a bunch of politicians, who don't even care, can't seem to make a decision about what to do?

I guess I'm just venting because this is one of those millions of situations where i can do NOTHING, feel completely POWERLESS, and just watch mankind rip each other to shreds.

Enter the Lord....

This is why I support people and the way we respond to things...even when it seems outrageous.

We are just so small and we will NEVER know the mind of God. If we can just keep in mind that he is in control, that he has a plan and we are too small to understand it all...like little childtren who don't understand the big things of adults, then we can feel somewhat secure.

Even in the face of death, destruction and anxiety, we NEED to lean on God. Think about it this way, He has had to go this kind of extreme to try to get our attention and if He still doesn't have it...what will come next? In Noah's day He used the flood....then the destruction and fall of Rome...later the rise and fall of Nazi Germany...now what? He gives us just a tatse of the world without His grace and then He intervenes and extends His mercy on all of us...deserving and undeserving alike. Everytime it gets a little worse unitll one day he just will decide thats it and pull it all away. The Holy Spirit will leave the earth and God will order the angels to blow the trumpets and God will remove His own from here and unleash His wrath on the world ushering in the judgement and the establishing of His kingdom once and for all.

LEAN NOT ON YOUR OWN UNDERSTANDING BUT IN ALL THINGS RELY ON GOD!
