Chinese food, the food in Sichuan, Hunan and Hubei provinces are very very very hot.

And you forgot to mention Korean food. Korean people like spice food too. Their piccalilli is very famous. They almost eat everything with capsicum.

Not to forget the West Africans! Nigerians, Ghanians etc. I have many west African friends who always walk around with emergency chilli to add to food they otherwise perceive as bland.

And Ghanian Hot soup - does exactly what it says on the tin!

I agree. Kimchi/kim chee is not only spicy, the heat level is outrageous. I love it though blush

I have never had Ganian Hot soup. Now I am curious. There is a lovely restaurant near me--I will have to stop by this week. I kept putting it off because of time constraints.

Wondering if I can find Ghanian Hot soup at my supermarket.

Have never tried Thai, but hope to soon. Tried Vietnamese before though, which is pretty similar to Chinese, although does have that added spice and heat to it.

For really good Indian recipes to make at home (and therefore as spicy as you want it to be, or not as the case may be)try www.realcurryrecipes.co.uk

In my experience, Indian food is beyond the spiciest. The mild is chokingly hot.

do you mean spices or spicest like hot with chiles?

Ethiopian has many spices and can also be hot from Berbere. Thai can be the hottest if they use many chiles. so is it spices like some of the Indian curries using meat and sweet spices, or hot like Vindaloo curry with much chillies?

For my palate, the hottest, cleanest, most enticing heat is available in Thai food. Not only can you order it HOT but if it still is not hot enough, there's always those wonderful condiments on the table. My favorite HOT HOT HOT is Tom Yum Goong, that fiery soup with shrimp, mushrooms and lemon grass, that goes down as liquid fire. I also love a green papaya salad hot, and there's a homemade thai chili/braised onion relish that I've only had at homes. The Thai beef salad, (mu su mu neau, I think) can also be wonderful when hot. Not all thai food is hot or even has to be, pad thai, a noodle dish, is simply delicious with no fire at all.

The hot I least like is the New Mexican chili, which is simply hot without much taste. The most lethal hot sauce I ever had, and I love those hot sauce kiosks in the Carribbean, was Dave's Insanity. One minute touch of a toothpick could wipe out your large bowl of chili, not to mention blister everything it touches.

Depends on your definition of "spicy". Are you talking about foods that contain a lot of spices, or food that is "chili hot". For the former description, my guess would be Indian. Indian food can contain a myriad of spices resulting in complex and "layered" tastes. No other food comes close, in my opinion.

Now, if you're talking about "chili hot", then there are some varieties of Thai peppers that can very nearly kill you! Ok, I overstate that! I frequent a Thai restaurant in my neighborhood, and I ask for something called "chili oil" as an accompaniment. That stuff makes my scalp sweat, and gets my vote for the "hottest" food!

I'd have to agree with Kboodle. Those litle sliced Thai peppers are lethal! Mixed with broccoli and mint in drunken noodles with chicken, they create a hot and spicy dish that's to die for.
